Speed Cleaning
Because we all lead such busy lives today, usually holding down a full time job, bringing up a family and coping with all this entails, it is little wonder something needs to go. Often that means our homes are not as sparkly clean as we'd like them to be! Unfortunately most of us know how embarrassing it is when unexpected callers arrive and we are left feeling inadequate because the house is not as tidy and clean as it could be. This has certainly happened to me in the past which is why I resolved to sort myself and my family out and take Action! My Speed Cleaning routine has helped me and I'm sure it can do the same for you.
Once you get started and begin to follow some of the speed cleaning tips listed below you will see what a difference small changes can make and then begin to enjoy more free time with family and friends!
Speed Cleaning
Firstly Get Organised
Speed Cleaning doesn't mean the job's not going to get done properly!
You will need a container to keep the cleaning products, cloths, and dusters needed. If this container goes from room to room with you you won't be rushing around looking for things.
You also need your vacuum cleaner kept in a central place so that it's convenient to reach but not in your way! You don't really want to be running around between rooms looking for it! I know all this sounds obvious but it's surprising how many of us don't think about these things when we start cleaning.
Makes sense!

Speed Cleaning
Start Upstairs
As mentioned above I have my cleaning items with me and I have a very stable two step climber I use. I also bring the vacuum upstairs to make sure it's waiting there when I need it.
I clean one room at a time, starting with the higher items such as cleaning of the tops of the wardrobes or shelves if you have them - also if you can reach them of course - by doing this you are not sending dust onto surfaces already cleaned.
I work my way down to the lower items, dressing table, bedside tables etc. working quickly yet efficiently. I then vacuum and move on to the next bedroom.
The Bathroom(s) are rooms which as you know need cleaning every day.
You will need a very good bathroom cleaner, I like to use a spray product which I find is much quicker and easier than putting cleaner on a cloth!
Of course as this room gets cleaned every day then it will only need the basin shower/bath and toilet cleaned daily and a thorough clean at least once a week depending on how much use it's getting, i.e. number of people using it.

Work Your Way Downstairs
When I have finished the bedrooms I then wash the paintwork on the landing and down the stairs.I then vacuum the landing and the stairs and work my way through the livingroom in the same way - staring at the top - cleaning and dusting until I finish with a good vacuum. If you have wood floors then it is advisable to wipe over with a suitable floor cleaner and then use a good cloth to dry off.
Kitchens I find are the problem as these are used far more than other rooms in the house therefore we need to be far more organised here!
Kitchens need to be clean - none of us wants to be ill or make others ill by not cleaning properly!
We need a Brilliant Cleaning Routine here whereby we don't leave washing up sitting on the side for a couple of hours waiting be seen to!
We need pots and pans removed from the cooker and dealt with accordingly.
We need to clean the hob and oven after use.
We need to wipe down surfaces with antibacterial cleaner.
