Speed Reading Courses
Speed reading courses are professionally created courses to help you increase your reading speed and to make you a smart reader. Speed reading can be practiced and applied by almost everybody. You will only need to give some hardwork and use your mind.
Many people will acquire bad reading habits which they learn at school at a very young age. This thing sticks with them throughout their lifetime. The result will be slow and boring reading process. Anybody who wants to get out of the same old cycle of slow reading can definitely do so. It only requires some knowledge and practice.
Bad Reading Habits
1) Reading by moving your lips : This is worst habit that you can ever have. Sure you have to move your lips when reading to someone else. But if you are reading for your ownself then this is not what you want. Stop this habit as soon as you can. It will not be difficult but will take some conscious effort. Just do it now.
2) Reading from start to finish : Another bad habit is to read everypage from start to finish. Normally what you will do is start from the first page and go on reading each and everypage. You will get bored after reading some pages and you may also not find what you were looking for.
3) Vocalizing words : If you pronounce the words in the voice box and do not make sounds then this is vocalizing. If your tongue is moving or if you feel movement in the throat then you are vocalizing.
4) One word reading : This is another common mistake done by many people. If you point your eyes to one word at a time and read like that then you are just crippling your reading speed. By habit you will be forced to see one word at a time. But those who read fast see many words in a glance. This makes them to read fast.

Speed reading tips
1)State the purpose first : Before starting to read anything just give the reason as to why you are reading. When you have a clear purpose you can achieve that with ease. For example state what information you are looking in the book. This will help you to reduce unnecessary wandering in the book.
2) Try to take more words in a glance : Whenever you read, try to make the habit of reading a bunch of words together. At first it will be difficult. You can start small and improve. If you have the habit of looking at 1 word at a time, try to see 2 words. For practice just see 2 words but don't read them. Go on seeing 2 words at a time in a book or newpaper or anywhere. If that is too easy go for 3 or 4 or 5 words in a single glance. As time goes your ability will develop and as a result your speed will increase.
3) Read with a pointer : Use your finger or a pen as a pointer when you read. This will help you to reduce going back again and again. The less times you go back, the faster you will read.
4) Push yourself : Do this exercise in spare time. Take some material for reading. Start reading. After sometime increase the speed with which you read. Don't worry about the missed words. Just push yourself to go fast. Go at a speed with which you can understand most but not all of the material. If you practice this regularly you will see an increase in your reading speed.
