Find Out What the 3 Stages of Speed Reading Are, and How You Can Speed Your Way Through Them by Adam HarleySUMMARY: There are 3 main stages that you will likely go thorugh when learning how to speed read. The Beginning stage, Growth Stage, and the Power Stage.
There exists a variety of different kinds of speed reading programs and products. However, many of them are similar, and all of them end up working the same way: they teach you how to speed read. Learning how to speed read usually works in 3 steps or stages.
Stage 1: Beginning Stage In this stage, the trainee reads lots of words really fast, but understands very little of the content. Different readers spend different amounts of time on this stage. It can take anywhere from a day to a month. How quickly you progress depends on how proficient a reader you are going into the stage.
Stage 2: Growth Stage In this stage, the reader's mind finally begins to understand the meanings of the material. The level of comprehension varies at this stage, but, predictably, it starts out very bad, and works its way up to being pretty good. This stage occurs automatically, and doesn't require much action from the trainee to work. The brain will simply "realize" that you want to take in and understand large amounts of words at a time, and you will suddenly begin to gain more and more comprehension of what you read.
Stage 3: Power Stage. In this stage speed reading is able to play an awesome role in your life. You can learn at hyper speed, and your whole outlook on information and writing will change. Your comprehension will be just as fast as your reading speed, and you will be able to consume huge amounts of information multiple times faster than the average. Your new reading speed will likely turn you into a very frequent reader, because written text will become much more useful to you.
