speedxtra: Get your fix 4 speed
Hello open wheel racing fans around the world, welcome to Speedxtra. This is my lens about racing, and it is also a project to conquer a dream that I did not completely finish in the past. In 1997, a friend of mine and I decided to create a home for racing fans; we named it www.seventhgear.com. We became the fan favorite covering for the Cart world series. The experience was a great satisfation knowing the incredible support of racing fans around the globe. Unfortunately, the dream was over. On the other hand, I've always wanted to make my own website magazine (webzine), this time, I'd like to do it the right way. This is why I am setting this lens to get to know racing fans who would share my passion for racing, and who might be interested in pursuing a projet call www.speedxtra.com. This webzine will cover Cart and Indycar attending races to conduct interviews, race reports, and articles. The speedxtra is going to be a full blown racing webzine with original articles, interviews, forums, and rumors page. For this project I'm seeking for partner(s) who has the passion for racing and the knowledge to build a website. This can be a great and fun project. I was ,gladly, wrong; Cart-IRL ten year battle is finally over. We are still waiting to get all the details of the deal but we are glad that they are together. It is not going to be easy, the road for the 2 series is going to be a very bumpy one but this is a start and starts are always great. The CCWS-IRL feud has taken a lot from american open wheel racing and it is going to take a long way to get to the prime position the series once had.02/23/08

The CCWS-IRL saga continues 02/17/08
the rumors on the IRL/Champ car saga have intensify in the last couple of days in many internet forums and publications. The rumors have been gravitating from ccws declaring bankcrupcy to unifying with the Indycar series. So far, in the last 3 days these 2 stories have die down and the speculation wheel is running full blast. Let me give my "5 cents"; I believe that CCWS is about to finally die, leaving the IRL half dead on the way. I hope I'm wrong.
Renault got a gun???02/07/08
Dutch site f1today.nl has reported rumors of Renault is working on a new super wing that, apparently, is giving great results in the wind tunnel. The wing which is described as a "W" shape is supposted to improve lap times up to 5 tenths per lap. The team hasn't test the wing on a live track because of fears of being copied by rival teams.
Is team Australia leaving Champ car???02/06/08
Rumors are flying around in the net circles that Craig Gore, main financier on team Australia, has left the team.To add to the story Team Australia was a no show at sebring.If this is the case we hope that Derek Walker can be on the grid at the beginning of the season he is one of the nicest guys I ever known in racing and I hope this is not another nail in the the box for champ car.

The harsh sound bites from Fernando Alonso towards Lewis Hamilton and Mclaren keep being fed by the Spaniard to the Spanish daily Marca. Alonso told the paper that after leaving Mclaren he felt "Like a prisioner leaving jail" and when asked to coment on Lewis Hamilton on the british first year in F1, Fernando Alonso reply "The least we talk about Hamilton the better, at the moment he hasn't done anything."

Max Mosley is qouted by the spanish daily marca that Lewis Hamilton could win "Multiple Championships" And he may, even, "surpass" Michael Scumacher's record setting 7 world championships.

The CCWS-IRL Talks appear to be death again01/29/08
One more time we have being let down by CCWS and the Indycar series. Tony george Told the Indianapolis star that the talks are over and that,maybe the offer was made a little two late. CCWS boss Kevin Kalkhoven also was qouted saying that he never had a written offer from the IRL boss. One more time we are very disapointed in this stupid ego trip that is killing our sport here in america. When is this non-sense going to stop, we race fans would like to know.

big honcho,Tadeshi Yamashita, has given the Toyota f1 racing team two more years to start to become a winning team before the Japanese company pulls out the plug. This announcement by toyota puts to rest the rumor that they were ready to pull out of f1 at any time soon.

Tony George has made a very serious offer to CCWS for the two series to reunite.George has put on the table a strong proposal for Champ car main owner Kevin Kalkhoven and his partners. The Deal includes Free dallara Chassis, Free Honda engines and the united series would be kepping Australia,Mexico city,Long beach,Edmonton and toronto. This is the most serious attempt to unite the two series since strong talks stalled for an apparent mis interpretation in the spring of '05. GOOD LUCK.

And the bad news keep comming down and steady for champ car; Swiss driver Neel Jani is not coming back to champcar for the 2008 season. Jani is taking himself and his Red Bull money to race at A1GP. He told speedtv that he sees a "very uncertain future" for champ car.

Comming soon to a bookstore near you; the Nigel stepney's autobio "Red Mist" is going to be hitting the shelves in early july. the book apparently would be a tell all of the Ferrari spy drama. Also yesterday Stepney told Sky news that he did nothing wrong on the the Mclaren- Ferrari scandal.

Nelsinho Piquet has told reporters at the Renault trainning camp this weekend that what happened last year between Lewis and Alonso is not going to happen again at this years Renult team. He assure the media that him and Fernando Alonso are going to work together for the good of the team.

The other bad news is that Rafael Mattos said no to the champcar prize money of 2 million sponsorship money to race in champcar after winning the champcar atlantic series. He decided,instead, to go to the rival Indy car series minor league indy-pro series.

The latest news about the champcar TV schedule is as bad as the series future. ESPN would only show 4 out of 14 races squeeze into a one hour "specials" and only a total of 5 races would be broadcast live.
Mclaren is using ferrari designs specs?? 01/15/08
Luca Di Montezemolo blasted Mclaren this weekend with harsh comments about Mclaren-mercedes '08 car. Montezemolo was quoted by the spanish paper Marca saying " What I have clear is that in 2008 the winning car would be a car with some of Ferrari in it or a complete Ferrari". If this comment wasn't enough Aldo Costa added his grain of salt with this hard sound bite "At Mclaren they have plenty of time and enough knowledge to evaluate all the information taken by Stepney".

Giancarlo Fisichella told a group of fans and press in Mumbai, India that they should not expect the team to get a victory or even a podium in the 2008. He ask everybody not to have high expectations on his new team.

Michael Schumacher is going to be Ferrari's "Development Driver" in 2008. That's what the German driver told the Spanish newspaper, Marca. The seventh time world champion also told the Spanish daily that he would do as much testing as the team needs him to do.

It appears that Paul Tracy was in very serious negotiations with Ganassi's Target team to leave ccws for the rival "Indy racing league" PT agree to stay with Forsythe at the end after a few weeks of speculations over the future of the canadian driver.

The latest "promotion" of former Ferrari racing team principal Jean Todt as the director of the entire Ferrari international operation, is no more than the result of a power struggle between todt and Luca di Montezemolo. The issue of the feud, apperently, is over the decision of montezemolo to sign Alonso to replace Massa for the 08' season. The rumor going around also mentions that todt will "retired" at the end of the season.

Speedtv reported that PT was in talks with Tony George to move and race for the Indycar series. Tracy was quoted saying "I went into the meeting expecting the worst that Gerry was going to low-ball me and I would be force to leave but Gerry never mention my contract situation."

Honda has announce that Alex Wurz would be their test and third driver for '08.

The Indian newspaper "Hindustan news" has informed that a source from Force India f1, has said that Tonio Luizzi would be name test and reserve driver for the team. It also reports fisi to partner Adrian Sutil for Force India '08 line-up.
