SpideeMail

Would you like to know where everyone who looks at your lens is coming from? I was kind of curious, so I took a SpideeTag and added it to a few of my lenses and it seems to be working quite well.

Check out my lens on installing an above ground pool, here. Scroll to the bottom and click on the tag to see where everyone that is looking at my pool lens is coming from.

Or, click on the tag shown below to see where the people who have looked at this lens are coming from.

Craigslist: There was a thread here talking about tracking your views on Craigslist. I've never used Craigslist, but I imagine you could use a SpideeTag to track views there as well.

User Tracking on Your Lens

Using a SpideeTag to track where users are coming from

If you would like to track where users are coming from to look at your lens, follow the steps below.

(Note: this process will be simplified shortly, you'll be able to choose between an email to get a SpideeTag, or the HTML code of the tag)

1) Contact me for an invitation to SpideeMail.
2) Sign up using the invitation code you'll receive.
3) Log in to SpideeMail.
4) Enter a subject in the text field (this is used as the title of your tracker when you click on 'My Emails').
5) Check your primary email account for the SpideeTag.
6) View the source code of your email and look for the anchor tag that contains the img tag.
7) Copy the entire <a> tag including the image tag and the closing </a> tag.
8) Paste the code into a text module.

The code will look something like this:

<a href="http://www.spideemail.com/logip.php?email_id=d0upkpbd&id=87">
<img border="0" src="http://www.spideemail.com/image.php?email_id=d0upkpbdc&id=87" />
</a>

Module for Squidoo

I'm working on a module for Squidoo that does the same thing as SpideeMail. The intent is to show you where everyone is coming from within your lens, so you don't have to leave Squidoo to see your mapped locations.

I've done it. Not completed it. But, like all software project, it probably will never be truly complete where you can say, "Hey! This is complete." B... (more)
