The obsession with key word density and quick, cheap content make it challenging to find a legitimate customer base that is willing to pay more than a fraction of a cent per word for quality writing. The proverbial needle in this SEO-ridden haystack may be right under your nose.Constant Content is a clearinghouse for journalists-neophyte to professional-of all subject matter except fiction and poetry. Unlike pay-per-click content sites, as a Constant Content author, you write about the topics you are interested in, you set the price for your licenses (usage, unique & full rights), and customers can shop the site for articles that suit their needs. This is not a competitive bidding site, nor do you need tens of thousands of clicks to earn some serious cash!
Another aspect of Constant Content that sets them apart is the fact that they employ stringent writing guidelines, and utilize tools to prevent plagiarism, spinning and other unscrupulous writing practices. In order to write for Constant Content, each article you submit must be approved by the editorial staff before it will be listed for sale in their inventory. In further attempts to maintain a high standard of quality for their customer base, writing is judged upon clarity, grammar, spelling, and overall composition, in order to assure that they can offer some of the best content on the internet.
If an author receives 3 rejections based upon serious and repetitive flaws in their writing style, their account will be suspended, and they will no longer be allowed to write for Constant Content. While this may seem harsh, it is, in fact, what differentiates Constant Content from any informal writing/blogging site, and creates a much needed level of quality and professionalism that may lack on pay-per-click and social networking sites.
When you join the Constant Content community, there are several resources available, including FAQ's, Writing Guidelines, & an Author forum, to ensure that your experience will be both positive and potentially lucrative. Their requirements are clearly outlined in numerous areas throughout the site, and the forum is an open community where all authors can come to ask questions, get advice, make suggestions for site improvements, and generally become part of a writing family.
Your success at Constant Content is only limited by your writing ability and determination to provide high-quality material. In addition to the general inventory, customers can post a Public Request, in which they outline what kind of article/content they need and name the price range they are willing to pay for each article. Authors have immediate access to these requests, and can choose to create an article to fill the request. Customers, however, are under no obligation to purchase anything after the request has been made. Even so, this gives authors a chance to showcase their talents, and in doing so, many authors can obtain regular assignments through Private Requests, where they will work one on one with a client to produce the content needed, and have the ability to negotiate terms of the project.
Many of Constant Content's top-selling authors cite patience and an ever-increasing inventory of material as key reasons for their success on the site. Other than the editorial guidelines, authors are free to choose their target audiences, and the number of articles they wish to submit.
In addition to these benefits, authors can earn income by referring qualified authors to the site. For each author signed on under a current member, the referring author will make a 5% commission on the new author's sales. This commission is taken out of Constant Content's commission, and not the author's share.
And about Constant Content's commission-it's a 35% cut of each article's selling price, and is automatically substracted from the author's earnings at the time of each sale. While this percentage may seem a bit steep, if you take a moment and consider that as a member of this site, all marketing of articles is done for you, and you do not have to query publications or wait for lengthy periods of time only to find that your work has been rejected, it's a very reasonable rate.
So, if you love to write, and you can write high-quality articles on myriad subjects, joining Constant Content could be the first step on your way to becoming a successful freelance journalist!

- I recently signed up for CC and despite my articles not selling yet (it's only been a week or two at this point), I'm loving it! I've done a lot of research on freelance writing sites and CC is the one that stood out as one that will pay you for the work you put in...not peanuts, but real money!
I've seen complaints from people who claimed their well-written articles were rejected, but I haven't experienced this. My one rejection was due to the format I sent it in and once I switched it from .docx to .doc, the problem was fixed.
CC has the right idea...the writer does the work and therefore should be the one to set the price. Just bear in mind when setting the price that CC does take 35% as their commision...make sure your cut is fair for you and the total price doesn't make it overpriced for the customer.
