Celebrate the Spirit of the Season in December

The Spirit of the Season Challenge is all about sharing that special holiday spirit that comes around once a year. This Holiday challenge gives lensmasters a chance to share what the holiday spirit means to them, share what they plan to do to spread the holiday spirit and make a lens to benefit one of the Children's Charities on Squidoo.

Even before having children, for me Christmas was always about children. There is something very special about seeing the holidays through the eyes of an excited and enchanted child.

It seemed fitting that the final challenge of the 2008, The Spirit of the Season, would be a one to raise money for children and children's charities, to ensure that children have a happy holiday.

More about the Spirit of the Season Incentives

Check out what the winning lensmaster will be receiving.

Incentives for the Spirit of the Season Challenge

Of course the greatest incentive for any Squidoo challenge is knowing that you have make a lens to benefit a charity, but we are exploring ways to sweeten the pot.

We are looking for lensmasters who might be willing to donated items as incentives for the Spirit of the Season Challenge.

Chef Keem and I will be donating items to create gift packages for the winners.

Chef Keem will be donating some of his amazing Agasweet. I will be donating Reusable Gift Bags and limited edition Squidoo Sticker from the Sticker Giant.

Keep watching for more information on the incentives as we find more generous Squid donors.

The Spirit of the Season Hosted by Comfortdoc and Chef Keem

This month-long Spirit of the Season Challenge is another charity lensraiser contest hosted by your Generous Giant Squid, Comfortdoc with help from Der Tintenfisch Engel (German for Squid Angel), Chef Keem.

Help us spread the spirit of the season, share what you plan to do to spread the holiday spirit (whichever holiday you might be celebrating) and make a lens to benefit one of the Children's Charities.

10% can change the world!

Microdonations Add Up

How can you help? Simple. Build a lens.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. It also takes a village to change the world and yes, you can make a difference with one lens.

Imagine if 10,000 people created a lens that raised $1 per month for charity. That would equal $120,000 per year. Now imagine if 50,000 people created a lens, that would be $600,000 per year towards charity and that's a lot of money!

So Create a lens. Make a difference.

Lotusland, at 1pm on December 31, 2008 predicts:

My hope is that with businesses looking to cut expenses, that they will look to flexible schedules like a 30 vs 40 hour work week, summers off which will allow primary wage earners to keep their jobs but spend more time with their family.

lollyj, at 9am on December 29, 2008 predicts:

What a wonderful idea!! Great lens as always.
Love, family, hope, kindness, and forgiveness are spirits of the season I try to cultivate all year long. Focusing on the positive makes me happier and healthier. And the holidays are simpler and less stressful if we hold gentle thoughts.

Frankster, at 3pm on December 25, 2008 predicts:

People are starting to look at what really matters most in their lives and realizing how 1 person can make a difference. I predict in 2009, more people will get involved in world causes for animals, children, poverty, hunger, the environment. Here's to people-power in 2009!

LaurieBeth, at 7pm on December 19, 2008 predicts:

I echo everything already said, particularly Mickie's statement. There is a silver lining to be had, and I do feel guilty saying so because I am very privileged compared to the many who don't know where their next meal is coming from...but when we slow down the shopping frenzy as most of us have had to this year and focus on what we already have, we'll find ourselves more willing and able to share it with others.

Comfortdoc, at 9am on December 17, 2008 predicts:

Mikie - What a wonderful prediction. We are focusing on doing activities that will make holiday memories this year.

Mickie_G, at 9am on December 17, 2008 predicts:

I predict that because money is "tight" this year, people will start feeling the reason for the season. Less time and energy will be spent on shopping and more time will be spent remembering the good holidays past. Mr. Scrooge will awake a new man.

VJYoung, at 4pm on December 13, 2008 predicts:

When you help the environment you are helping everyone, everything all year long.

monarch13, at 1am on December 10, 2008 predicts:

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”

~Calvin Coolidge

calicoskies, at 10pm on December 9, 2008 predicts:

Being grateful for everything that I have and remembering those less fortunate.

PastorKay, at 7pm on December 6, 2008 predicts:

For me, Christmas is LIGHT.

Mark-Nehs, at 8pm on December 3, 2008 predicts:

I think the spirit of the season is best expressed by the individuals that give of themselves freely in little and big things with no worries about recognition.

naturegirl7, at 7pm on December 3, 2008 predicts:

The holiday season is a magical time filled with wonderful stories, both real and make believe. Even the weather has a bit of magic with the lace-like snowflakes and snow covered scenes. It's also a time when many varieties of wintering birds visit our part of the country. Our family always comes from near and far to get together to reminisce and celebrate the joy of Christmas.

This is probably a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. How does one vote for the lenses in each list. Each charity has a list and a suggestion to vote. I see buttons to add to this list and to grab this list. But how do I vote for an entry. All the hyperlinks seems to just display each lens.
