What do you think of my favorite spiritual books?

What are good spiritual books to read?

From the lens The best spiritual books of all time.

This is a great reference for spiritual books. One of my favorites is Everyday Zen by Charlotte Joko Beck. I have read a fair number of the books you listed. For me, spiritual rather than religious books are the most satisfying. Thanks!

Book not on here is the Book of Mormon, with all these other religious topics, this would be my choice if listed along with the Bible.

Katinka, what a comprehensive list of books you have compiled here! Thank you. In case you are interested, I have two book suggestions that aren't on your list.

The first is by Kim Michaels: "Master Keys to Personal Christhood". (He has written others too like Master Keys to Personal Wholeness.)

The second is my own book, "The Three levels of Leadership: How to Develop Your Leadership Presence, Knowhow and Skill". What's this got to do with spirituality? The answer is that in the 8th and 9th chapters I introduce a new psychospiritual model of the psyche and explain six techniques for practising self-mastery. In other words, it is practical spirituality as applied to leadership. You can get a sense of what it covers (although only at quick summary level) from my lens, "Leadership: How to be a Good Leader". I hope this is of interest.

I have not read most of these books, but some. The authors of the spiritual books I am very familiar with whoever and read their quotes, and meditate on them some times.

The books that have changed my life the most is the Bible, Transformation of the Inner Man, and My Utmost for His Highest ... which is a daily reading book.

Hello fellow bookworms!! I am lookin @ you actually coz I wanna know who is familiar with the book The Roadmap to an Enriched Life http://bit.ly/zoKsAf authored by Harold Deonarine. Here's an excerpt of it, " Once you read this “lifestyle treasure manual” (as I have come to call it), I’m sure that you will share with me a deep understanding of HAROLD the man ... his courage, his drive for fulfillment, his passion for authenticity, and his deep desire to compassionately share with others his successful strategies—and, more particularly, for taking YOUR LIFE in a NEW and exciting direction..... I think the author is very good as he is as if writing with his heart.. please, if anybody here who has now a copy of it, I am so interested to discuss it with you coz I myself wants to buy this book.. This is I guess a newly released 1 and the author is from Canada!

Dear Katinka, To your already superb collection of books I would like to suggest one more spiritual book by Rabindranath Tagore called Sadhana: The Realisation of Life. This book is a powerhouse of Indian spirituality and can be freely download because its copyright has expired.

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), was a Nobel Prize winning author who wrote many wonderful books on spirituality. His most famous book is the Gitanjali - a collection of profound spiritual poems.

A wonderful collection of material. I have already spied one or two volumes that I intend to look at. You might be interested in looking at my new Squidoo site on Kabbalistic Art. It doesn't fall within the Eastern tradition which appears to be larger area of focus, but you might find it stimulating none-the-less.

The Quest of the Sparrows by Kartik Sharma and published by Rupa too is a fantastic book. I found it better than The Alchemist.

I'm familiar with a few of these, but recently I've been reading books by Gary Renard and also going through A Course in Miracles.

That is quite an extensive list. I can not believe the time you must have put into this. I noticed you have a book for review address, and I do have a number of favorites that you didn't list, on this direct page at least, although, my guess is that you aren't exactly in need of any new books at the time :) I always LOVE seeing all the religions in one place! Namaste

Hi Katinko: You absolutely MUST review a book called GiraffeNeckSoup by Claude La Vertu. EVERYBODY MUST READ THIS BOOK!! I've read so many books on spirituality and science (like The Secret for example) but they always leave me doubting things or they don't clarify things enough or they contradict themselves. GiraffeNeckSoup is different because it truly has the answers to fixing what's plagueing our lives and our world (war, abortion, education, relatsionships, MONEY) and what we can do to change it all. IT BLEW MY MIND! Best of all, it's not just reiterating the other books I've read, it's actually filled with brilliant new concepts I've never considered or heard of before. I am actually doing the things La Vertu suggests in the book and my life and my world have changed forever.
  • Dean (& Marilyn) Hatcher Apr 16, 2011 @ 3:24 pm | delete
I just finished reading GiraffeNeckSoup and am reading it again. My wife made me read The Secret and although I liked it there were many conflicting thoeries, but GiraffeNeckSoup is clear about different laws and about just applying logic and compassion and commitment to everything we do, and it covers so many other things I didn't realize I am directly connected to, and shows me how I 'can' change the world for the better. My wife loves it too and we're fighting over who gets to take it to work. I suppose we should just get another copy but it's something we share and it is changing us both. Definitely a 10/10.

Wonderful blog and review lens! :)

How would a writer send you a copy of a book for review?

My new book 'Awaken Your Inner Power' comes out in January and I'm currently giving away free Ebook versions of it at my blog.

Here's the Amazon page also, although it only came up this week.

Pathways through to Space by Franklin Merrell-Wolff is a little known gem that deserves much wider attention. It is the most profound, precisely detailed, philosophically literate account of higher states of consciousness that I have come across. Give it a try.

If you will read the Bible from start to finish and ask God to reveal the truth, you will begin to see the superiority of it's message and put aside lesser books that claim spirituality.
