Modern British Spiritualism

Mention that your a Spiritualist to people and you will be greeted with a number of different reactions.
To some Spiritualism is seen as the work of the devil, to others as trickery preying on the vulnerable.
I thought I would tell it from the other side.

Spiritualism has nothing to do with Devil worship, Black magic or anything sinister. It is an open, honest system of belief that the spirit trancends death and can communicate with the living through the agency of mediums.

Everyone has mediumistic abilities, we are all made of flesh and spirit and when our physicall bopdies die then we pass into what is called the spirit world. There is no heaven and definitely no hell for those who do not believe. Just gentle guidance for the soul as it progresses.

The Spiritualist believes in Personal Responsibility. Not for them the vicarious intervention of a dead god. We believe in the maxim of as ye sow,so shall we reap and we have to atone for our deliberate wrongdoing both in this life and the next.

Conttact with the spirit world usually takes place by clairvoyance, that is whetre the spirit is visible to the medium who is shown objects perhaps of what the spirit wishes to communicate.
Clairaudience is the power of hearing whereby the spirit is able to communicate by voice to the medium.
Clairscentience is the technique of pickibng up impressions from the spirit and passing them on.

Direct Voice Communication occours when the medium goes into trance and allows the spirit to assume control of that body in a limited fashion alowing the spirit to communicate directly to the recipient.

Our main aim is to bring comfort and peace to those who are grieving and we also have a strong healing mission too. Healers must do a minimum of 52 weeks training before being allowed to call themseves a spiritualist healer. There are strict guidelines set down as to what is permissible to protect both healer and patient. Healers are not allowed to diagnose illness and always recomend that patients see their own doctor and continue medical treatment as well as spiritual treatment
