Is there a Heaven or Hell? What is the Nature Of God

In this lens I discuss the spiritual landscape and how it impacts our lives. More importantly I present a case for God as part of the creation as opposed to their being a creator that is separate from the creation. In my research and studies, I've found two very different beliefs, each within them a spectrum of other beliefs that transgress through different religious sects. Just a heads up on my background, I was raised in a non denominational church, spent my early and late childhood as a Christian, starting questioning things in college and became an agnostic and then finally found my home in the new thought movement.

Is there a Heaven and Hell?

My simple answer is yes, there is. However, my concept of heaven and hell is very different from traditional judeo-christian followers. To understand my definition of heaven and hell you must also understand the context. If we are to accept that God has poured himself into his creation, we must also assume that he is a part of it. This assumption also implies that God must be in everything. If he created it with himself, the world we live in is the substance of God and God is good. I think of the analogy of water. Water can be ice, steam, gas, liquid, even an ice sculpture but it's still water and still made of the compounds despite its change in form.

If God is in everything and we are made of that god stuff, we must be a part of God as well. As the human race we represent a collective consciousness that along with the earth, the stars and cosmos makes up that which we refer to as God.

As far as Heaven is concerned, it is not a place nor a thing. We know this to be true in our own lives as we experience tremendous suffering where physical surroundings are paradise to someone else. Likewise we experience joy, peace and love in places that wouldn't normally be deemed as paradise. This by virtue is the evidence that heaven and Hell are states of consciousness as opposed to physical locations.

So what is Heaven?

Heaven is direct connection to your higher self which is God. Through this connection, the byproduct is joy, peace, patience, love, freedom and whatever other words use to describe the nature of God. Heaven is your default state. Before you were born and after you die, when you remove the sense of physical separation that being an incarnated human being creates, you're automatically connected and apart of that which you call God. The separation vanishes and you are fully enveloped into your natural non-physical state. But I am certain that Heaven is a state of being.

Jesus even said in Luke 17:21 "nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you"

What is Hell?

Hell is merely temporary separation from God. When we live in ways that contradict our natural flow, we experience pain and most of the time we try to evade that pain which is what suffering is. To suffer is to experience Hell. Fear, anger, hatred, lust, envy, etc are forms of emotions that carry with it the seed of hell.
