Why use protection in the first place?

When you are doing any kind of Spiritual work whether it is spells, rituals or healing work-there could be "Forces" that could interfere and may not have your best interest at heart in regards to the spell, ritual or healing work you are doing.

When you are a Sensitive/Empath, without protecting your energy there are possibilities is that you could have things attach to you. It could harm you emotionally, spiritually and/or even your psyche. As an example, when certain things attach to you it could cause, depression, sadness, chaos, anger, or fatigue.

There are also Energy Vampires-YES they are real and they can leave you feeling totally drained. They have the experience to attach their energy to yours and drink in your energy. Your energy provides substance to them as food and water does to others.

Keep in mind that these are only a few examples of things that are possible when you do not use proper protection to protect yourself while doing any kind of Spiritual work.

When it comes to using items for protection to be very honest I am not sure how it came to be, except to say that bits of information has always been passed down generation to generation. Legends are passed down and people who are in tuned to nature can hear Spiritual messages from plants, gems and they share this information by writing books.

We will read ideas in books and trust what the author is trying to teach us. Often we will trust our own intuition as well. So this brings me to this conclusion, if you feel and believe by carrying a bean in your pocket will bring you protection and makes you feel safe, who am I to doubt that?

I am not the type of person who follows recipes or guidelines on how things should and NEED to be done. What I do is follow my intuition and messages from my Spirit Guides. I may find a few examples in books that I will incorporate into whatever I am doing. Sometimes I will get feelings or hear stories that just feel right to me and I refer to those as "Truths". Just an example White Sage-this herb is used for cleansing, and driving away negativity. I have been told by "Elders" that WhiteSage is the warrior, and it will drive away unwanted energies you carry on you or that are in your space.

I have used WhiteSage for so many years, and have seen it worked so many times that I believe it-but I am not alone in my beliefs in WhiteSage. Once in my shop in Indiana, I had a group of people come in and asked if I was just burning WhiteSage, I answered yes and they just smiled. Well, they wanted to know if I could order them a certain amount, which I did. Come to find out this group of people used WhiteSage before each of their performances to help clear negativity and to bring a meditate state to their mind. They are known as the "Human Mobile" (I did see them on the television!) and they suspend their self in air from their body piercings. True Story!! This group of people was so awesome that I hated to see them leave that day because we talked for the longest time.

The things I use for protection works great for me because I only use things that I fully believe in. Whatever technique you use, it will only work for you, if you fully believe it will work without any question or doubt! I am going to list a few things I believe strongly in with a short description. I hope if nothing else, this lens will encourage you to research more in the importance of using protection before you do any kind of Spiritual Work.
