From: http://blog.splatforms.com/2012/02/good-bye-amplify-clipmarks-hello-clipboard-2/
In the ever-changing world of target web sites, the landscape continues to evolve. Two more of our favorite target sites, Amplify and Clipmarks, have joined the countless others that have gone before them and are now silent. This time, however, a new target site, Clipboard, has risen up to take their place. Of course, this [...]

Well, we finally got around to publishing our Squidoo Lens. Squidoo is a nice tool, and very user-friendly. We could have finished what we had started there quite some time ago with very little effort, but there have just been a lot of other things going on. The main reason that we decided to go [...]

Facebook and Yahoo Set Out To Prove 'Six Degrees' Experiment
Posted: Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 01:05 PM
From: http://www.techzone360.com/topics/techzone/articles/209265-facebook-yahoo-set-out-prove-six-degrees-experiment.htm
Are you really six degrees of separation away from Kevin Bacon? Or from the Pope, the mayor of Birmingham, England or the Unabomber, for example? While the idea that almost everyone in the world is only six social contacts away from anybody else in the world has been a popular topic in sociology and pop culture for a long time, no one was ever really in a position to prove it on a wide scale.Enter Facebook, which has more than 750 million active users all over the planet. If anyone can help prove the ?six degrees? theory, it's the social networking phenomenon that Mark Zuckerberg built...with a little help from Yahoo. This week, Yahoo Research launched an online study to test the pop-culture theory. Using Facebook and its army of users, Yahoo's ?Small World Experiment? is inviting people worldwide to attempt to send a message to a specified ?target? by creating an online chain of connections, reports AdWeek.

Nine Things You Didn’t Know About Twitter
Posted: Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 12:32 PM
From: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/19/technology/personaltech/nine-things-you-didnt-know-about-twitter.html
Twitter, the minimalist-format social network that claims to have 100 million users, has built its reputation around its simplicity. Members can post to the service only in text messages of 140 characters or less. They can include a link to another site, or to a photo or video. They can repost other users' messages on their own pages. They can send each other equally spartan private messages. That's about it ? or so it seems.Look more closely, and you'll find that Twitter has been augmented, by the company and by other Internet toolmakers, with a virtual appliance store of simple, utilitarian features, widgets and services that let users find interesting posts, create photo albums or search Twitter more efficiently. Yet unlike, say, Facebook or Microsoft Office, Twitter's power tools are easy to find and easy to figure out.

5 Pinterest myths dispelled

From: http://www.examiner.com/online-marketing-in-baltimore/10-things-you-need-to-know-about-pinterest-right-now
Pinterest is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing social media sites of all time. According to comScore, the average Pinterest user spend 98 minutes per month on the site, compared to two and a half hours on Tumblr, and seven hours on Facebook. If you don't count sites like Google+ or new Yahoo channels that have built-in user bases, comScore's data shows Pinterest would be the fastest site of any kind to hit 10 million monthly unique visits in the U.S.Last month, Social Media Examiner wrote about an Alaskan Mom who is seeing 6,000 unique visitors PER DAY to her carpentry blog - just from Pinterest.

From: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505125_162-57367990/5-ways-to-make-it-in-a-social-media-world/
The world is full of people trying to tweet, like and link their way to prosperity. Years from now, we'll all look back at how much time everyone wasted trying to get ahead with social media and think, that was a real "fools rush in" moment. In case you don't get the reference, it means this: nobody ever got anywhere by doing what everyone else is doing. Nobody. And that includes you.Not to burst your bubble, but look at it this way. Everyone who lost their shirts chasing loony valuations when the dot-com bubble burst would have loved to have gotten a heads up before it happened, right? Well, here's your heads up.

Online news 'more popular than social media'
Posted: Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 07:11 PM
From: http://www.directnews.co.uk/news/online-news-more-popular-than-social-media--$21378281.htm
Reading an online newsfeed is more appealing to tablet users than accessing sites such as Facebook and Twitter.A new study by the Pew Research Centre's Project for Excellence in Journalism found the most popular tablet activities are browsing the internet, checking emails and reading news.Around six in ten tablet users have substituted print versions of newspapers and magazines and TV news for reading the news online.News sharing and bookmarking of articles are popular among tablet users. Some 85 per cent of tablet users speak to other people about news articles they had read on their devices, while four in ten share links via email or social networking sites. However, social media is not one of the main activities on tablets. Just 39 per cent said they go on sites such as Twitter and Facebook on their tablet.
