Spore hits Planet Earth

Spore is the new game from Gaming God Will Wright, best known as the creator of SimCity and The Sims. In Spore, players start off as an aomeba in some primordial soup and can eventually evolve into a full creature, then into a sentient species, finally taking to the stars and the entire galaxy.

Beyond the amazing scope of the gameplay itself, the game is built upon a Procedural Content creation system, which is to say that ALL of the content in the game is made on the fly, and all of the creatures found in the game are player made, distrubed accross the internet in a sort of Passive Multiplayer. Actual player interaction is limited. The game is broken up into distinct yet consistent, dependent "phases". The outcome of one phase affects the initial conditions facing the player in the next.(read more)

Spore Advanced Creature Creation

By buying the Spore CC, or by downloading the demo, you'll actually be able to add content to the final game. Spore can upload every creature you make to the Sporepedia, and the game will also randomly populate your worlds with other peoples' creations. During actual gameplay, you'll be scavenging parts from dead creatures, finding them elsewhere, earning them, etc.

Welcome to Answers beta 2 for Spore. Below are a list of frequently asked questions for this game, and if have a question you'd like to have answered just leave us a question in the comments.

What are the minimum system requirements to be able to run the game?: Windows XP/Vista
Processor 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
RAM XP: 512 MB / Vista: 768 MB
Graphics card 128 MB with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
Hard disk drive space At least 6 GB
Is there any way to skip cell stage?: Press Ctrl+Shift+C. Type help. Type levels -unlock. One of the cool things about Spore is that once you play through the game you can start a new one at any stage, so if you want to skip the cell and creature and tribal stages, you can do so.
Will Spore be coming to Xbox 360, Wii or PS3?: Plans for a Wii version were underway, and the game will be built from the ground up and would take advantage of the Wii Remote. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Spore are still under consideration.
