Sports Radio Buzz
I started Sports Radio Buzz in Houston to promote my radio station, my advertisers and to elevate advertising and marketing!
I sell for 1560 The Game, KGOW-AM. We are a private and locally owned station! (Which is a breath of fresh air.)
Helping businesses grow through radio advertising and marketing is what I'm all about. And if you have a need - hopefully I can help you too!
1560 The Game
Houston's best sports radio station!
The station, KGOW, is owned by Gow Communications, a group of local investors that believed in a true LOCAL station.
David Gow, along with Richard Topper and John Granato have built a radio station around a solid lineup!
Granato and his longtime sidekick, Lance Zierlein anchor morning drive. They welcome in Houston Chronicle sports columnist Richard Justice from 10am to Noon. Ken Hoffman, also with the Houston Chronicle, and David Nuno take you through lunch with a wide variety of topics and guests. And afternoon drive hosts Sean Pendergast and John Harris take you home with their lively brand of sports talk.
If you're a sports fan in Houston, you can't ignore 1560 The Game!
And if you're a company looking to advertise, 1560 The Game a wide variety of sponsorships to reach the loyal and passionate audience.
1560 The Game targets Men 25-54. It's a terrific qualitative audience to reach... educated, professionals from all fields and high household incomes!

Make the most of your advertising investment
- Create the Right Message for that Audience
- Run the Right Frequency of ads to that Audience
- Own a Category
- Own a Day-part
- Choose a Sponsorship
- Use a Live Endorsement
- Become Part of the Station's Culture
- Have Great Ad Copy
- Run a Long-term Schedule
Carve out your category and lead it. When the listeners think "widgets", make sure they think of your company.
Dominate the day-part that you choose to run in. For example, let everyone in morning drive know who you are and what your offer is. Own your category within the day-part.
Tie in to a sponsorship to create more awareness for your company. It's part of dominating the station, category and day-part.
The listeners listen to a station for the format and the personalities. If a personality is promoting your product or service you have instant credibility with the listeners.
Position your company to become part of the radio station's culture. Stand out with your copy. Do giveaways. Use a live endorsement. Get involved with station events and other station mediums such as website and digital streaming. Understand the listener and market to them.
Don't let your ad sound like every other ad. Be creative, stand out to your prospects, and have an irresistible offer.
"Trying" any advertising for a week or two is unlikely to yield results. Your company and offer will gain more recognition and results as your campaign works over time. Run at least 13 weeks then evaluate your results.
Marketing genius Seth Godin says:
Good marketers tell a story. (What's your story?)
Marketing is not an emergency. It's a planned, thoughtful exercise that started a long time ago and doesn't end until you're done.
Products that are remarkable get talked about.
