What is so Important about Spring Break?
Is spring break a time for partying every night to get away from the "real world" or for traveling to places only because your friends will be traveling?
During spring break, are you supposed to take a break from your studies, even if you are struggling, because of the pressure you'll soon be facing when preparing to write exams?
What is the real purpose behind spring break?

Exotic Locations???
While there is a lot of hype about taking trips to exotic locations, it isn't necessary.
Spring Break Idea #1
How much do you know about the area in which you live?
There is so much to explore in your own country; in your own vicinity and, sometimes, exploring your own surroundings will give you not only a break from your routines but you will have learned something about "home."On a personal note, I'm a Canadian and have traveled extensively through Canada and I've yet to see it all, though I will strive to see much more than I have. I've made the occasional forage into the United States and have had pleasant memories.
However, I still know more about Canada and, because I've taken the time to travel through all of the Canadian provinces numerous times - while driving - I feel even more pride in being a Canadian citizen. I feel honored to know so much about this rich and wonderful land - though there will always be more to learn and discover.
Note: This photo was taken at Waterton Lake National Park, Alberta, Canada. What a beautiful moment it was to watch this sunset. There was no one in the world except me - or so it felt - and it's a moment in time I still feel blessed to have witnessed.
Time continually passes
Time demands our attention. It doesn't relent, nor slow down, for us to do things we would like to do on a regular basis.
Spring break is the perfect opportunity to break away and enjoy ourselves doing the things we love most.
Spring Break Idea #2
Enjoy whatever nature has to offer outside
If you enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, pack a lunch, a couple bottles of water, and a camera with an extra set of batteries. It also wouldn't hurt to take a small amount of cash with you, just in case you decide to be spontaneous. It never hurts to carry a cell phone, but turn it off. Only use it in case of an emergency. This is your time to relax and you don't need to be interrupted by continual phone calls. That's part of normal life and you want to get away from that for a little while.
Being sure to tell someone you trust of your whereabouts and the time you expect to be back, set out to explore your favorite hiking trail around mid-morning.
Take photos of anything which captivates you. It may be a tree with bent and twisted branches or a squirrel holding an acorn. Perhaps you'll see an animal not common to the area, and one never knows what type of bird might fly overhead.
Perhaps the sun will position itself over a group of trees and make a fantastic shot. You may even wish to lie on the ground and take photos of the treetops and the clouds.
Find your favorite spot, close your eyes, and think of the happiest moments of your life. You'll notice your thoughts drifting from one place to another; from one person to another, and the stress you've been feeling will melt away. You'll feel rejuvenated and ready to conquer the world.
Spring Break Idea #3
Where will the road take you?
Sleep in a little but, by early afternoon, take your bicycle, skateboard, or roller blades and get some physical exercise. If you don't have either of the above, perhaps you may be able to borrow from someone or rent a bicycle for an afternoon, or visit a gym or swimming pool.Equipped with a turned off cell phone, a small amount of cash, and a bottle of water, relax your mind and see where the road takes you.
You may meet some interesting people along the way or run into an old friend. You may see a museum and decide to go in for a peek. You may end up at the library engrossed in a novel, or may end up at a friend's house for dinner. The possibilities are endless!
Feeling great in every way!
Your body will feel great because you've had some exercise and you won't believe how relaxed you feel, mentally and physically.
Relaxing is important
We live in a fast-paced society where, in many cases, we are expected to meet deadlines much sooner than we should have to.
It causes much stress - even when we don't realize it - and, despite busy schedules, we have to relax so our body and mind can get a break.
Choose a partner to spend the day with you
Perhaps you'd like to partner up with a friend. Here are a few things you can do together for a day:
- Explore a trail you've never hiked.
- Go shopping for things you need.
- Go to the movies.
- Go for a bike ride.
- Go sightseeing.
You might grow closer by having shared the day because, when people spend time together, there is bound to be some level of conversation.

“Be a volunteer.
Really? Yes, give it a shot!
See how the less fortunate live.”
Spring Break Idea #4
Volunteering builds character...
Help a bag lady wheel her cart down the road.
Take a look at the down-trodden sitting beside buildings with hunger written on their faces.
You won't be able to forget the looks on peoples' faces - the hopelessness, helplessness, and the desperation to have a better life for themselves and their children.
You won't walk away from these people and be the same person you were when you first entered their presence; it isn't possible.
Spring Break Idea #5: Visit the sick in the hospitals or nursing homes
You might be surprised to know how many elderly citizens have no one to visit them when they are sick.
Some young adults have no families or no relatives living nearby.
Some children are orphans who will be placed into foster care when they are released.
Some people have no one.
A visit from you, though they don't know you, would be the highlight of their day, perhaps even their week, or month.
You never know the stories you may hear, the wis

Time to meditate
At this point, meditation is paramount.
Think about what you've experienced throughout the past week:
lessons learned;
opportunities granted.
Think of where your life is right now and where you would like for it to be.
Come up with a tentative plan of action for your life which goes beyond studies in a classroom.
And always strive to remember that, even on your worst day, your life is ideal compared to
the lives of some people.
Spring Break Idea #6
Getting back into the grind

On the last day before spring break ends, it's time to get yourself back into study mode but you'll want to enjoy a few hours to yourself before studies begin again.
Immerse yourself in a book, cook your favorite food (or dessert) and invite a friend over to enjoy it with you.
Perhaps you might like to take in a movie or visit a park to observe those around you while, once again, taking time to count your blessings.
Perhaps you may go out to fully appreciate one more sunset because you know you won't be able to feel this relaxed again for a while.
Whatever the case, relax while mentally preparing yourself for the days ahead.
Experience opens your eyes in a way a television program, video or book never could.
While you spent very little money, you've explored your surroundings, enjoyed physical activity, spent time with friends, and met people with challenges.
Spring Break Guestbook
This would likely be my idea of spring break if I lived in a warmer climate. I used to visit people in the hospital years ago and it always pleased me to see the smile lighting the patients' eyes and it broke my heart when a lady told me once that she had no one to visit her.
During summer of 2009, I spent some time visiting with a man who seemed to gravitate toward me, yet acted out on most others who came around him. To my recollection, he had been in an accident and was never right since that time.
I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts about my lens. If you have any other spring break ideas - which doesn't involve traveling to exotic locations - please feel free to post them here.
You never know! Your ideas may be added to my lens.
