Small Polyp Stony Coral
SPS Corals are just the opposite of LPS, meaning that instead of large polyps on a stony skeleton, SPS corals have small polyps on a stony skeleton. SPS are "harder" than LPS, which are softer and more "squishy."
SPS corals are more delicate and difficult to care for than LPS, and therefore aren't the best choice for a beginner. But with some experience under your belt, SPS add a unique twist to a reef aquarium and enhance the diversity and naturalness of it.
