How To Remove Spyware, Malware & Viruses

Who ever programmed the first computer virus or spyware really needs a kick in the pants. Why did they do it?

Spyware and malware are a pain, and for most people who use the Windows operating system, spyware, malware and viruses cause lots of hassle and problems.

This lens will help you with tips and advice on how to prevent and remove infectious files from your computer.

Most, if not all of the tips are aimed at Windows XP, as I do not have Vista. They may work in Vista, they may not. It's worth a go.

Please give constructive feedback and any tips and advice you may have is greatly received.

Another Handy Tool to Remove Malware

Anti-Malwarebytes Is A Very Free Handy Program

Do you know exactly what Malware is? Wikipedia describes Malware as follows:

"Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a portmanteau of the words malicious and software. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.

Many normal computer users are however still unfamiliar with the term, and most never use it. Instead, "computer virus" is incorrectly used in common parlance and even in the media to describe all kinds of malware, though not all malware are viruses."

Well, I'll never use the term computer virus again, when I should use Malware! Anyway, Malware is a royal pain in the backside and I found another FREE useful program that can detect computer viruses Malware.

I have downloaded and used it, and it found 10 infections that my anti-virus program [Avast 4.8] did not detect. Nothing against Avast there, as no anti-virus program is 100% able to remove all infections.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware can detect and remove malware that even the most well known Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware applications on the market today can't. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware monitors every process and stops malicious processes before they even start.

Key Features include:

-Support for Windows 2000, XP, and Vista.
-Light speed quick scanning.
-Ability to perform full scans for all drives.
-Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Protection Module. (requires registration)
-Database updates released at least once every two days.
-Quarantine to hold threats and restore them at your convenience.
-Ignore list for both the scanner and Protection Module.
-Settings to enhance your Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware performance.
-A small list of extra utilities to help remove malware manually.
-Multi-lingual support.
-Works together with other anti-malware utilities.
-Command line support for quick scanning.
-Context menu integration to scan files on demand.

Visit the Anti-Malware website and see if this program may be of use to you.

Version 1.11 has just been released and I find this program is a welcome buddy to my current anti-virus program in protecting my computer from Malware.

How To Protect & Speed Up Your Windows Computer With 3 Excellent Programs

Give Your Computer a Fighting Chance Using Freely Available Programs

Is your computer becoming slower and slower and creaking up the weight of the many files you have? Or maybe your computer hasn't got the necessary protection to block all those nasty infections and hackers on the Internet? If so, what can you do about protecting and speeding up your computer, and without spending any cash?

Well, if you install all three of the programs I mention below then you will indeed give your computer a rather quick and very useful health check-up whilst ensuring that it has the ability to fight off most infections and block hackers trying to access your computer.

1 - CCleaner

This program is absolutely brilliant. It will remove all of the temporary files that clog up your computer. It can also remove any traces of Internet activity, remove stubborn programs that don't advertise their un-install option and many other options. Best of all it's freeware and it does not contain any spyware or adware.

I've been using it for a while now and when you run it for the first time, you will be surprised how much junk it finds and removes. Your computer will run faster after using this program. Ensure you run this at least once/twice a month for best-continued results. This version is compatible with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera browsers. It can be used on Windows 98/NT4/ME/2000/XP/2003 & Vista.

2 - Lavasoft Adware 2007

Lavasoft's Ad-Aware 2007 is a freeware anti-spyware software that's available for home use only. The program includes includes skins, help manuals and the latest definition files. It's a very useful program to help remove spyware and adware. Unfortunately the real-time guard is only available on the paid for version.

This version is a much better program than the previous Ad-Aware SE, which was good, but did not catch most of the spyware and adware that had infected your computer. The freeware version of Ad-Aware is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, and Vista. An ideal program to remove those ammoying spyware files.

3 - Zone Alarm Firewall

You need a firewall on your computer. Without one, it's like leaving your front and back door unlocked in your house. Undesirables will get in and cause damage. The firewall included in Windows XP and Vista are poor. They are better than nothing, but use a good free program such as Zone Alarm and you will be able to help your computer battle the nast files and hackers out there who want access to your computer.

All of the above are suggestions and if you have programs on your computer you're happy with, then keep them. If you don't, well download the ones above and see how much better your computer performs.

The three above programs are for home use only. They can be upgraded to unlock more options. In the free for home use state they are more than adequate in helping you protect and speed up your computer.
