The best way to prevent spyware from installing itself on your PC is by using anti-spyware software. A great feature of some anti-spyware programs is the ability to alert you if you happen to view a website containing harmful code

I have spyware, what do I do? 

If you have spyware you need to run a scan with a spyware remover. Many are free to download. They will scan the files on your hard drive looking for spyware and will then give you options to remove it. To be fully protected you should have a spyware removal program that also runs in the background similar to an anti-virus program.

How do I know if I have spyware? 

There are several common signs to indicate that you might have spyware running on your computer. If your computer is running very slowly, you have new toolbars installed in your web browser, or have new icons for programs you don't recognize on your desktop, you could be infected with unwanted spyware.

If you have any of these symptoms you should download a spyware removal tool as soon as possible. By taking action right away you can stop the problem from getting worse and contain the spyware.
