What the heck are squeeze, landing, sales and pitch pages?

What are they?
Internet Marketing makes no exception. In this lens, I will cover the commonly used terminologies on your web site, especially the first page of your web site.
Landing Page
Landing page simply means the first page that someone arrives at your web site.If your web site is called yoursite.com, whenever someone types in http://www.yoursite.com in their browser, the very first page it shows is called the landing page.
It is like someone has just landed on your web site.
Squeeze Page / Opt-In Page
Squeeze page sounds horrible, and the reason it is called squeeze page is because the person behind the web site is trying to squeeze stuff out of you. Typically, it's your name and email address. It is all to do with user communications!Traditionally, you visit a web site and browse for some information. Once you have finished browsing, you leave the site. This site may try to sell you a book for example, however, it is up to you as the end user to go back and buy the book. The problem is, there is too much information out there and the chance that we forgot where we went is highly likely.
By using a squeeze page, you normally need to fill in your information such as name and email. Then the web site owner can send you some follow up emails from time to time. It is good in theory, however, some Internet marketers over use them and it becomes junk email.
I personally like to use the term 'opt-in' page, it is a page that allows someone like you as an individual to have the option to join the mailing list. Does it sound better than 'squeeze' page?

Sales Page / Pitch Page
This one is simple, sales page is a page that you use to sell your product. Some may call it a pitch page. You try to 'sell' or 'pitch' the best about your product and this is where the terminology came from.Having said that, the sales page is normally the most important page on your web site. Therefore, you need to write it well.
When you write the 'content' on this sales page to tell the world how good your product is, this is called sales copy.
Do not under estimates the power of writing, and you should learn this sales writing skill. However, if you think you are really bad at writing, you can outsource it, be warned, a good copywriter may charge thousands of dollars to write good sales copy.
