In the Squidoo community there are about a dozen or so SquidAngels. From the SquidU forum Angels sticky:

• Every SquidAngel makes a difference. If one Angel blesses a lens, the lens gets a small boost. If several Angels bless it, the boost jumps to a new tier.  The idea is not to form a jury and drive a traditional consensus. That would be an entirely different program. Instead, the idea is to empower you as individuals. The Angels group is varied, by design, and I'm betting you'll each browse and bless (or ding) different lenses in a broad range of topics. Then, when diverse opinions from top lensmasters converge naturally in the same place, that's when something really special happens.


• Nope, Angels are not required to give editorial reviews of lenses that are posted in the Angels forum. But if they'd like to, they can.


• Nope, Angels won't ding lenses that are still under construction.


• Nope, LensRank doesn't affect your Google traffic or other search engine results.


• Yep, Angels are allowed to bless a few (not all!) of their own lenses. Hey, they're working hard for everyone else, they deserve the same perk.

When the Squid Angels are logged in we see a "Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down" icon, as seen in the screen shot of this (the lens you are currently viewing) Squid Angel lens. The icons allow us to promote the lens, or demote the lens. Both have an effect on lensrank. As this plays out for me personally, most lenses I visit are neither promoted nor demoted, as it should be. However, the really good ones I promote, the standard ones I do nothing in terms of a blessing, and the really bad ones are demoted. To date, I've only demoted (Thumbs Down) a couple of lenses, and these were lenses that spammed the guestbook on several of my lenses with cut-n-paste comments linking back to a lens that was horrid.

As a reference point of quality, and I speak for myself on this, I have 225ish lenses and as a Squid Angel we are permitted to bless our own lenses. To date, I've only blessed about 5 of my own lenses (that's about 2% of my lenses)! If you want to produce a quality lens, then consider the resources provided in this module.

• My husband Joe and I have 5 children ages 2, 8, 9, 17, & 18. Girl, boy, girl, boy, girl! Planned it that way! Yeah right! :)
• Joe and I have been married for 22 years and have always been self employed. We've owned and ran several businesses, however, our painting and building contracting business allowed us to semi-retire several years ago. Joe is currently 48, and I am 40.
• We generate income through real estate sales and have donated 100% of the income to World Vision. This video (if you have time, watch all the videos!) reports on one of the opportunities we support.
• Presently, Joe submitted us (well, me) in a SEO contest for the Greatest Real Estate Agent In The World. We'll see what happens.
• We are Christians and try to live accordingly. We're not perfect, but we do ok.
• For fun, we ski when it is cold, and camp when it is warm.
• At Squidoo we are Giant Squids, Citizen Squid Alumni, and recently, a Squid Angel.

As time permits, I'll elaborate on the above points.
For now, they will serve as an outline for things to come!
