5 Benefits of Using Squidlinks.org

Increase your exposure and get more traffic.

1. Do follow link - All pages on the internet that are indexed by search engines have a level of authority that they accrue as search engines trust them more and more as time passes. Well that authority and trust can be passed along to other pages as well by way of links. However, not all links are created equal. They can be either do-follow or no-follow links. Links that are do-follow lend the authority and trust to the linked to page, while no-follow links do not. The links that you create in your posts at Squidlinks.org are do-follow links and therefore your lens will receive the authority and trust, and the search engines will notice.

2. Anchor text - Another thing that search engines consider is the text that is used to "anchor" a link to another page/lens/site. They use this text to get an idea of what a page is about by looking at what other people on the internet think it is about. Through experience they know that the text usually describes something noteworthy about that page such as a keyword, phrase or a brand name. Consequently, these links anchored with particular text are considered editorial votes and affect how pages rank in the search engines in terms of relevancy. For instance, I am taking the liberty to "vote" for this lens by describing it as a Squidlinks.org Tutorial. So you can see how this could help the search engines understand your lens better by creating a backlink to your lens with relevant anchor text in your posts at Squidlinks.org.

3. Pre-sell content - Tell your readers why they need to check out your lens. People are busy, let them know why they should give you a few minutes. Tell them what the lens about and what charity you are helping support.

4. Easy bookmarking - As mentioned in Step 8, we make it easy for you to command even more attention by providing bookmarking buttons right in your blog post.

5. Squidlinks.org Community Traffic - In addition to improved SEO, you become part of the wonderful community at Squid Links. Go ahead and check out members' posts, make comments, and you may just surprised at the amount of traffic/buzz you can create this way.

Step 1: Register

You want to register at Squid Links. Where shown in the picture on the right with the red arrow, click on the Register text below the Username and Password fields to do so.

Step 2: Select Your Username

Once you do this you will see a screen open that will ask you for your preferred Username and email. Your username will be your display name on the site and may be your Squidoo Lensmaster name if you like. Your email address will not be displayed anywhere on the site and only you will be able to view your profile.

Once you click the Register button, your password will be sent to your email address. You must use this the first time you login. Afterwards, you may change it.

Step 3: Add A Post

Check your email account for the email sent. You may need to check your junk folder and/or wait a minute or two for the email to be delivered.

Once you click on the link in the email, make sure you note your password. Go ahead and login.

You should end up at your dashboard and it will look as in the picture. I have noted with the red arrows, the two important things you want to notice:
1. The Posts section
2. The Profile section

Since I know your are eager to finish, let's create a post by clicking "Add New".

At Squid Links, just as at Squidoo, titles are important and help get your post noticed. This means that you should include the most import terms or keywords that people may be searching for in your title.

Next, you'll want to write a short little paragraph on what your lens is about, why somebody should come visit your lens, and which charity the lens helps support.

Note: You will want to make sure that you include a key phrase, similar to a Primary tag at Squidoo in the post. It is best if you work this into the paragraph.

Step 4: Create A Hyperlink To Your Lens

This step is important. This will help your lens get noticed by search engines.

You will want to highlight the key words or key phrase we talked about above by left clicking your mouse and dragging the cursor over your desired text.

Next, you will want to click on the link button (I point to it in the picture and it looks like a little chain link).

After you do you will notice the screen get a darker grey and a white box will pop up.

Step 5: Add Your Squidoo Lens URL

In the white box that popped up, you will include your Squidoo lens URL in the Link URL field. Make sure to include the http://

OK, click on Insert.

Step 6: Add Your Squidoo Charity and Tags

After you're done adding your link, you will want to add the Charity your lens is helping.

Go to the Categories section and select your charity. You need to select one and no more than two.

Next, create some tags that help describe your lens. These are similar to the tags at Squidoo. You may add up to 10 tags.

OK. You're almost done. Phew... Now just click on the "Submit For Review" button and wait for the Admin to review and approve your post. We do this to prevent spam.

Optional Step 7: Preview Your Post

Now, if you want to see what your handy work has created you will want to select "Preview Post" after you have submitted the post. Actually, you can use click the Preview button before you submit the post as well.

TA DA!!! Your very own Squid Links post about your wonderful Squidoo lens that donates Squidoo royalties to your fantastic charity. Congratulations!!!

Optional Step 8: Social Bookmark and Share Your Post

Although this step is optional, I think it is very important.

To draw even more attention to your post and therefore your lens, you will want to return after the lens has been reviewed and approved, and submit the post to as many social bookmarking sites as you can. We have include a number of major ones to get you started in the right direction.

You can do this by clicking on the little square icons that you see right below the text in your post.

Cheers!
