Let's Watch Those Numbers Grow

Track the progress and watch the number of lenses grow as Squidoo lensmasters take up the challenge to aid survivors by making lenses.

This lens also provides information on Squidaid, the Squidoo Fire Aid and how lensmasters can aid survivors of disaster simply by making lenses that benefit charities.

SquidAid * Aid Survivors * Make Lenses

SquidAid and the SquidAid Group began as a response to the devastation of the California Wildfires.

SquidAid was developed for one main purpose:
The purpose of SquidAid is to use the Internet and move quickly to mobilize the virtual Squidoo Community to have a pool of royalty resources to aid survivors of current and future disasters.
All Squidoo Lensmasters are encouraged to make new lenses or modify existing lenses and choose the royalty option as the Squidoo Charity fund. By choosing the Squidoo Charity Fund the lens will generate royalties for the Squidoo Charity Fund potentially for the life of the lens.

In doing so, we develop a pool of existing royalties that if and when the need for aid arises again, the resources and the groundwork is already set and in place to do so.

Join the Squidoo Fire Aid Challenge

Squidoo Fire Aid is a fundraiser specifically for the Survivors of the recent California Fire.

It is very easy for the Squidoo Community to specifically aid California Fire Survivors by using your lensmaster skills and the Internet to create a lens, or two or three.
  1. Pick a charity recipient - the Squidoo Charity Fund, Save the Children, the Humane Society or a combination.
  2. Make your lens on something related to the charity, the fire or something else you care about. Please be sure that you submit a quality lens and no "adult" rated lenses. We are trying to generate funds for a good cause.
  3. Include the Squidoo Fire Aid graphic for your chosen charity in a text/write module.
  4. One version of the Squidoo Fire Aid Graphics--the badges--are on the Squidoo Fire Aid lens. Other larger versions (the ovals) can be found on the More Squidoodles lens.
  5. Add a link back (in a Link Module or Featured Lens) to the SquidAid lens and/or this Squidoo Fire Aid lens.
  6. Join the SquidAid Group so we can keep track of all of the new lenses being made as a part of SquidAid and the Squidoo Fire Aid.
  7. Finally, let us know about your lens(es). Post your lenses in the lens plexo for your chosen charity on this page.
  8. Be sure to grab a copy of your SquidAid Responder Badge.

What are you doing for others?

Make a lens or two or three

Every man must decide whether he will walk in the creative light of altruism or the darkness of destructive selfishness.

    This is the judgment.

Life's persistent and most urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?"

Build a Lens and Make Your World a Better Place

Dr. Leo Buscaglia once posed the question "How can I make my world a better place?" and the answer:
Don't spend your precious time asking,
"Why isn't the world a better place?" It will only be time wasted.

The question to ask is: "How can I make it better?"

To that there is an answer.

You can make your world a better place by participating the the Squidoo Fire Aid Challenge and making a lens or two or three.

Build a Lens out of Compassion

True happiness comes from a sense
    of peace and contentment,
which in turn must be achieved
    through the cultivation of altruism,
    of love and compassion...

Benefiting the Squidoo Fire Aid - Save the Children

This lens benefits Squidoo Fire Aid via Save the Children's U.S Emergency Fund. A lens that benefits Save the Children can benefit California Fire Survivors for the life of the lens.

Soon after the fires started, Save the Children partnered with the American Red Cross to equip many of California's wildfire evacuation shelters with safe play areas that allowed children to play, participate in structured activities and interact with other children in a secure environment.
