Squidoo Volunteers
Citizen Squid
A
Citizen Squid badge is given to a lensmaster that volunteers their time in the community. They test new features and help out the Squidoo staff with special projects. The Citizen Squids main priority is to help new lensmasters create quality lenses by offering them helpful tips and advice.
If you have questions regarding Squidoo or need help with your lenses, be sure to stop by the SquidU forum. The Citizen Squids and many other helpful lensmasters will be there to offer a helping hand.
How You Can Become A Citizen Squid
Citizen Squid Alumni
Y
ou'll see this badge in SquidU. The Citizen Squid Alumni are lensmasters that have served as Citizen Squids in past terms. They are still very active on Squidoo (and in the SquidU forum) giving tips on everything related to Squidoo. If you see a Alumni member, be sure introduce yourself.

Squid Angel
S
quid Angels are lensmasters with special powers. They devote their time to helping quality lenses rise to the top and making sure that spam lenses are removed. Angels are given a special tool to help with their duties. This tool allows them to bless or ding a lens. Blessed lenses receive a little lensrank boost and dinged lens will sink. This helps ensure that quality lenses are found on Squidoo.
If you would like a blessing on your lens, be sure to visit the Angels thread in the SquidU forum and ask an Angel to take a look at your lens.

I have mixed feelings about it, my lens are nothing special, however i have been to some giant squids lenses that have a little content then a vast amount of earning modules and no real content in between, so the lens starts off right then it looks spammy.

Absolutely. I would not have done it otherwise. Not only surprised myself but had a ball at the same time.
Posted April 16, 2010
Nah. It's not worth my time.
Cinetech says:
In most cases, it's not. Only few lensmasters can do both, quantity and quality. It somehow contradicts the original Squidoo motto or essence. But I guess it's a business, and money comes first. I just wish Squidoo's message be more honest. If it's about the money, just say it.

CrypticFragments says:
unreal
I wrote a very long detailed reply, and Squidoo ate it!
Although for me, it was worth the time...18 months from joining Squidoo to receiving Giant status...I don't feel this is a powerful incentive to quality.
Lately, it seems more like an incentive to made publication of pointless, low content lenses. New lensmasters seem to miss the "quality" component of the equation.
What's worse, it seems some of them received the award anyway.

JudyDunn says:
I am actually on the fence. I guess I have decide to just let it evolve. If I have 50 great lenses in me, terrific. If not, it is fine. I don't want to lose sight of making lenses I care about, in order to hit a magic number.

Giant Squid Greeter
T
he Giant Squid Greeters job is to look for lensmasters who are nearing Giant Squid status. They search for potential giants and send them emails explaining what the Giant Squid project is all about and letting them know of the benefits that go along with that title. They also offer tips and advice on reaching the goal.
Greeters are sort of like our resident cheerleaders.

Giant Squid Organizer
S
quidoo's Giant Squid Organizers are the life of the Giant Squids program. They help potential Giants by offering blogs and groups filled with tips on reaching Giant Squid status. They also offer exciting challenges to motivate potential giants to create lots of quality lenses.
These volunteers are also helpful to new Giants, helping them along the way to make even more terrific lenses.

O
nce you have reached Giant Squidoo status, Squidoo offers even more motivation to keep building quality lenses. The next step in your Squidoo journey will be to aim for the Giant Squid 100 Club. This title is given to lensmasters who have created 100 or more quality lenses.
This honor also offers a few more perks to make it worth your while:
- A special Top 100 Badge for all your lenses.
- A 20% lensrank boost for any one lens that you choose.
- And more! You'll have to join the club to see what other benefits it offers.
How Can You Join the Giant Squid Top 100 Club?
It's what every lensmaster dreams of... to swim with the Giant Squids. Are you ready? Do you have 50 quality lenses to qualify as a Giant? If not, get crackin'. Time is running out!
Remember to qualify for Giant Squid status, you must have 50 quality lenses. 50 published lenses! WIPs don't count.
To join the Giant Squid 100 Club, you need 100 quality lenses to qualify! Deadline for Giant Squid 100s is the same as Giant Squid.

predictions now... please stand byMickie_G, at 10am on June 23, 2010 predicts:
I would rather see another "Giant Club". Like so many others, I have enough trouble keeping up with my over 100 lenses. Maybe there should be a Second Giant distinction for those who are Giants and have another account with Squidoo.
skiesgreen, at 12am on April 17, 2010 predicts:
How will we ever manage them all and keep them up to date. We would need a robot or something.
boshemia, at 12pm on August 18, 2009 predicts:
As long as they keep adding levels people will still participate, I'm kind of hoping the do add a 250 club, a 500 club, a 1000 club, and keep on going!
Gandree, at 3pm on January 15, 2009 predicts:
There will be some kind of recognition for those at the higher levels because as more people come in there are more giants moving up. The badges really do make you think about the quality of the advice given on the lens.I hate to think about updating all those lenses tho.
ElizabethJeanAllen, at 5pm on November 7, 2008 predicts:
Maybe, but I don't think so. Most that reach that status are already active in several different facets of Squidoo. They don't need another group.
ZBT, at 5am on October 17, 2008 predicts:
I feel that Squidoo should have a "rare squid" group of some sort; maybe one nearing 500 to 1000 lenses or something - calling the group Colossal Squid Group. Truth be told, there really are colossal squid, for real.
spirituality, at 3am on October 15, 2008 predicts:
I don't think they will. There are so few giant squid top 100 members, to select top 200 members would be overkill. Anyhow - the giant squid top 100 members I've seen all had more than 200 lenses anyhow.
triathlontraining, at 10am on October 12, 2008 predicts:
I think Squidoo HQ will introduce the Giant Squidoo 200 club by beginning of 2009
The_Party_Animal, at 8am on October 11, 2008 predicts:
It better - I am on my way - watch out Squidoo - Lots of Party Animal Style Pages to come
awelldressedbullet, at 2pm on October 10, 2008 predicts:
Absolutely, although I think it might be around 250, after all, they do have to keep up with all the awesome lensmasters here, they rock!
