Featured Bottom 20 Squidoo Lenses

After what is now more than two years as a member of Squidoo, this seemed the ideal time to sit back and reflect a little on what has been a busy time creating lenses.

A few goals have been achieved. I was honored to be included in the second round of Squidoo Giants, and after completing over one hundred lenses, I was equally thrilled to become a member of the Giant's 100 Club.

But if one thing is true, you can never sit on your laurels. As far as Squidoo is concerned, you have to keep enjoying what you are doing and keep the creative passion alive. One of those passions includes inwardly digesting what others say, and then reacting as creatively as possible.

This brings me to the inspiration for this lens. Just an ordinary discussion in the Squidoo forum can lead to a simple, straightforward lens.

While I have already built a full lensography of my lenses, I thought why not highlight those that, for various reasons, are at the bottom of my particular barrel.

So, here they are: JustBon's Bottom Twenty, featured in reverse order from the bottom up.

Something Old, Something New, Never Borrowed...Feeling Blue

As you might have guessed, I really enjoy creating lenses here at Squidoo.

Each and every one becomes a labor of love and, as a consequence, I'm always trying to find ways of improving them. But, as any Lensmaster will tell you, the more lenses you have the harder it can become to maintain them. You are always going to have those that will perform better than others.

There are several basic reasons for my underperformers. Although you can never be totally sure why your lenses are currently ranked the way they are, you can make some very educated guesses.

Here are my guesstimates: a lack of visitors and a lack of freshness seem to be the biggest reasons for my lenses heading towards the bargain basement. Add to this, lenses bereft of some of the Squidoo necessities such as star ratings, comments, sales and blessings and you have lenses that will inevitably go into free fall.

Although these are my lowest ranked lenses, I enjoyed making them all, either because they are subjects close to my heart or because they are favorites in some way.

I'm hoping the lenses featured here will change regularly - I'm sure they will, as that is the nature of the beast. This will also give me the opportunity of adding a short commentary (if possible) to each lens describing why I decided to create it, along with its current lensrank and visitor count.

All lenses will be featured from the bottom to the top i.e. the worst ranked will be the first listed on the page and so on. Some are old, many are new and some are just feeling that little bit blue.

Featured Lensmaster: Waxing Lyrical

I recently introduced my husband to Squidoo and as a result I have transferred several of my music lyrics lenses to his account, so that he can try and promote them a little better than I. If you have a moment, please hop over to his page and check out what he is doing with these lenses. As he's new, he'd be so "chuffed" to know you have visited :)

I think this is a wonderful idea for a lens. It is funny how sometimes the ones you are most proud of just never seem to make it.

Love this lens idea - I too often scroll to the bottom of a lensmaster's page to see what's being overlooked by everyone else. 5*

It would be interesting if there were some RSS feed that could give us updated different ranking lenses -- I've had quite a few different lenses like yours that qualify for my bottom 20. It's been a pleasure to get to know you this past year -- wishing you the best in the new year. ;)

What a unique idea for a lensography! I do try to keep up with my bottom lenses too, but sometimes it is difficult when we have so many LOL. I am considering getting rid of a few, I do have a purpose for them, but good intentions sometimes don't work LOL. - Kathy
