A bit more about Ning

Ning is a social network. It is an excellent way to promote your lenses and to communicate with others with the same interest. Many social networks are free though upgrades to your account may be offered. If you have the time, they can be an excellent way to get the word out about your product or service. Here is more information about Ning!:

It provides features that enable consumers to:

interact with others,
raise awareness of important or vital issues and events,
exchange tips and ideas with other like-minded individuals,
connect with others who share your passion and
inspire and educate
brag about their products or services
arrange events and meets.

These are just some of the things that you can do using Ning.com as your host. Many features are provided including music/video players, discussion forums, groups, blogs, photos, your own page in the community to customise how you want, messaging, alert settings, badges to place on your website (unfortunately, they are not compatible with Squidoo lenses) and the chance to start up your own Ning community.

Remote Workforce Management

Remote Workforce Management

Work At Home Professional (WAHP) Resources & Education.

Remote Workforce Management is run by GypsyOwl.

Groups available are Squidoo Lensmasters, Remote Workforce Management on Twitter, and The WAHP Network.

The community is for anyone who works at home, i.e. remote workforce.

The theme started out as a response to a Marketing course (working toward my BBA), and will be THE place to promote your business and to share Marketing Management tips. Everyone who works at home is a Remote Workforce Manager. This network will help make the connection with other Work At Home Professionals (WAHP) and remove the one aspect of working at home (the isolation) replacing it with an amazing supportive encouraging network of like minded people.

How do I set up my own Ning Community?

You can also set up your own Social Network on Ning! I've given examples of the kind of details you need to set up your own Social Network:

A) Visit Ning.com

B) Choose the name of your network. E.g Reviews for Promotion.

C) Pick a web address. E.g. reviewsforpromotion.ning.com. Hopefully, your web address will be available. If not, try and choose something as close to your title as possible. If you are wanting to create a network on Squidoo, you have to be very quick as many of the good titles may have already been chosen!

D) If your web address is available you'll be taken to a page where you will need to describe your network:
- Set your privacy level: Private or Public.
- Give your network a tagline: E.g. Using reviews as a promotional tool.
- Description: E.g. This network will aim to provide information and resources on how to use reviews as promotional and marketing tools.
- Add tags: E.g. reviews for promotion, use reviews for promotion, marketing tools, promotional tools, book reviews, product reviews, service reviews.
- Set your language.

E) Add Features to your Network. Organize your main page by dragging in features from the list, then arranging them any way you'd like. Click Next.

F) Customise appearance. Choose a template for your Network. You can then customise it even further if you wish.

G) Click Launch!

H) Create your Master Key. Your Master Key is separate and unique from your email address and password. You'll use your new Master Key for any network you create or administrate.

Ning is a very interesting social platform -- it was probably on Tribes that I used it the most, but if the environment is too large, you do tend to feel a little 'lost' keeping up with all of the conversations -- I prefer a smaller, more integral environment.
