Great Pictures For Your Website

Ranked #3,162 in Squidoo Community, #257,342 overall

High Quality Pictures

Good pictures will make your Website or Squidoo Lens look neat, colourful and professional. Mediocre pictures will make it look cheap and unprofessional. No pictures at all will look dull and boring.

Using high quality pictures can turn a good Website into a great Website.

This lens will give you some ideas that will help you to get good quality photographs for all of your Websites and Squidoo Lenses.

Free Pictures Online

There are plenty of photo stock agencies online that will allow free use of good quality professional photographs and other images.

Often there are strings attached so read the terms and conditions carefully.

Here is a list of some good agencies that allow free use.
PhotoXpress
This is my favourite. Almost all of the photographs which I use which are not my own work come from PhotoXpress.
You can download up to 10 free images every day from this site.
If you want more than 10, or a larger selection of pictures, you can subscribe for a modest monthly fee.
FreeDigitalPhotos.net
Unlimited Free Photographs - Must provide link back to FreeDigitalPhotos.net
FreeFoto.com
Claims to be the largest collection of free photographs on the Internet. Link back and attribution required.
Wikimedia Commons
"A database of 10,445,329 freely usable media files to which anyone can contribute."

Media resource from Wikipedia
Public Domain Images
Everything on "Public Domain Images" can be used for any purpose with no payment required and no link-back either. No rights reserved.
NASA Image Library
Hundreds of space images and other media. Everything is free to use.

Another Source of High Quality Pictures

AllPosters.com
Sign up as an affiliate to AllPosters.com and you can add their posters to your site. Not only does this add picture content of the very highest quality, but you will also get paid for any posters that are sold from your links.

Take Your Own Pictures

Photo agencies will not always have the images that you need especially if you need to illustrate a Website which is on a very specialist subject.

If you are serious about Squidoo then I strongly recommend that you learn to take high quality photographs for yourself. This will involve some cash outlay when you start out but it will repay itself again and again.

You will be unlikely to get consistently high quality results if you use your mobile phone camera. If you can afford to do so, you would do well to buy a digital SLR camera. An entry level model is fine for Internet work.

There are many websites and forums which will help you to learn photographic technique.

Learn to Use a Camera

Completing a good photography course will make a massive difference to the quality of your photographs and your websites.

I collect lots of things, but not coins (although I am strongly considering investing in gold coins). I think gold coins, British or others, is the kind of collection that will never depreciate in value (as oppose to many other collectibles, including stamps)

Great advice with numerous resources! Thank you! I am a (novice) blogger, helping my husband at osnova.com, and finding good pictures is quite a task. Also thanks for liking my lens!! Good luck with your Greek studies!

So far, I have used only my own photos. Occasionally, though, I have needed a photo that I don't have and don't have the option of making. So, thank you for a very helpful lens.
