HERE'S WHAT I THINK

Squidoo Quality vs Quantity

Which side are you on? Quality or Quantity? Make as many lenses as possible to reach 100 lenses or slowly build research and execute each lense successfully?

Squidoo Quantity

I am/was a quantity kind of guy..build as many lenses as possible, no matter what kind of content. Any idea that could make some extra cash in these tough times. It was free and you could do most anything. As I look back at the 30 plus lenses that me and the misses made I am almost ashamed.

I will be going back through them and do what I call a clean up. Add some flare. I guess it was a throw it at the wall and see what sticks kind of thing. Well most (ok ok 95%) of it slid off the wall and is now rotting on the floor. Stuff that I thought would never ever get one view did and the ones I thought would blow the minds of most would make a billion dollars ended up in the pile (insert LOL here).

My first lense

As you can see my first lense was nothing special. Do not fall into this trap and make 30 plus almost exactly like this one. Mix it up, use different themes, get content and frills!! The misses actually wrote most of this, and I added my many mistakes to her good work.

Squidoo Quality

Quality is..... well a sense that you are almost looking at a work of art. Something that someone worked hard to accomplish and complete. Searching through the big squids, top 100 and really looking at other lenses has helped me see the light. You should make a lense about anything, but you should not compromise on the quality.

I am not going to go all out with a spiffy little lense here at first but over time I am going to spruce the place up a bit to make it more "eye" appealing to the reader's. Maybe even do some spell checking!

Yes, you're right!

Quickcutters says:

Most definitely quality for me. i only have 6 lenses but i was not at all worried about how many i could do. It would make me feel less of a writer. I must say though I'm not that good at writing and i struggle a lot doing these lenses.
But i have believed in quality vs quantity in every thing i do. So glad you are going to update your lenses. I just bet you will get more traffic then you even thought you'd get.
Good luck

poutine says:

I try for quality over quantity, although I admit that some of my lenses could improve.

WebIsFun says:

Quality is the way to go!

myfairladyah says:

Quality is absolutely first
Else shoddy content dispersed

says:

Quality first, then build on it.

says:

I'm still a fairly new squid and I'm with you all the way. I think it's better to work a bit slower and make quality lenses than have a lot of bad ones. Although there are a lot of giant squid who obviously have the ability to do both.

No way, Monkeybrain!

Drawing the Line

Tell me where you draw the line between quality and quantity. build xxx as fast as possible? then go quality? or quality all the way? what do you do?

I have mine already to go because i have it all written down on paper first. As i go along i may change a few things but it does take me longer to get a lens done.
Now i have to say i bought a couple lenses way back and taking out some of there work and putting in mine was way more easy. But i don't feel quit right about buying a lens. It felt like i cheated. Lenses should be all about what you researched, what you know a lot about, so you can say i made this lens from scratch. Feels a whole lot better to me.
I hope this all makes sense to you. Quality all the way...

I find some of the lensmasters have lenses that are just full of products to sell and not much content.

    I prefer a mix.

It's takes lots of practice and time to make a quality lens. My first lenses are my practice lenses. They aren't the best but I try and improve them all the time. Many people with large quantities of lenses have actually bought those lenses and haven't made them. Guess it depends on whether you want to create original work. Happy Holidays!

sometimes you just need to start a new lens. Though a + page lens is great - there are other topics and other joys to share :)

I like to get a lens fairly complete
But later I'll add a new module for treat
Or pretty up the borders and such
As I have time, I'll do as much
On some lenses I'll add a new verse
When something new I must converse

thank you for visiting and the cool poem =)..I should give it a try....

lenses can be about a certain treat
of which I can not compete
with giant squids or 100 plus
    content should be the king
to make our work of art
    should come from our heart

ok or something like that the dog was barking in my ear ....err yea yea the dog was barking in my ear

A great topic for debate. I would think a combination of the two brings success. :) Unfortunately some of my lenses fall to one side or the other.

Totally know what you are saying, I am still looking for that balance =D

Great lens, Jim. This is a subject I thought about a lot and for me slow and with quality works better for me.
