Welcome to the diary log of Jaguar Julie contributions to Squidoo Requested Features via the SquidU Forum.

When I worked for a Fortune 500 company, the V.P. of Sales & Marketing was always asking me to find information on the internet or asking me for helpful ideas to benefit our group.  In a previous position, I was tapped to be an ISO Internal Auditor.  It was that role that honed my skills in solution resolution and in making suggestions to improve the company processes.  In a nutshell, my background probably explains why I have made so many SquidU Forum comments in "Requested Features."  Here you'll find a diary of my comments from that thread.

Holy Moly Batman! My Very First Lens!!!

Created on March 21, 2006 would you believe?

I received an invitation from BzzAgent to join Squidoo in March 2006. When I accepted that invitation and joined Squidoo, I had no idea what the heck a lens was, let alone what a lens was supposed to look like. Oh, that's bad grammar isn't it? Well, I'm sure you catch my drift. I was a lost puppy, not sure what to do or where to go for help. I tackled my first cobrand lens with the BzzAgent template. At least I knew not to write about sockpuppets!

This is the table of contents to my original comments and suggestions that I made over the past several years in "Requested Features" in the SquidU Forum. I have not edited or changed my text, but it appears precisely as originally written. I joined Squidoo on March 21, 2006 and made my very first forum post just short of two months later. Curiously, my first three forum posts were all in the "Requested Features" thread!

05/18/2006 8:56 am -- Veoh Video Module

I'd love to see a module that I can plug in a Veoh music video, such as the great one that I found of Chris Daughtry performing Bryan Adams, "Have you ever really loved a woman."

It appears with the Veoh videos that you can activate them to play at will. This would enable the lens viewer to turn it on if they wanted to watch.

05/18/2006 8:58 am -- Stylehive Badge

05/18/2006 8:58 am -- Stylehive Badge

I'd love to see a module that will enable the code that we get from Stylehive to show our Badge with the thumbnails of our bookmarks.

I've tried to insert the code into a Write module, but it doesn't seem to pick up all of the code--only a partial bit.

Thanks!

05/18/2006 9:03 am -- Ability to copy a module for another lens

I'd like to see the ability to copy modules from one lens of mine to insert into another lens -- I know it's not an issue if I want to use my Write modules -- copying and pasting is easy and then I customize that info for the related lens.

However, it is tedious if I want to use my Links List module in a related lens. For example, I've been writing several lens on Genealogy and want to include some of the links as "default" links for the related lens.

This gives me an idea -- if I could pool all my resource links into a LIBRARY lens?

Thanks for listening.

08/30/2006 4:30 pm -- Target Module

I'd love to see a Target module! When's the last time you visited www.target.com? Have you seen all the different items available there? Now, with the inclusion of several specific designers, you can find some great items there from clothing to home furnishings and furniture.

Has this module been discussed yet?

Thanks!

09/24/2007 5:55 pm -- Suggestion: Creation Date on Lenses

I'm not sure if this suggestion has been made already or considered, but I thought it'd be cool to see the actual lens creation date on each lens, above or below the lens freshness date [when the lens was last revised].

I do see the creation date when I go to look for my stats ... is it also a possibility to have that creation date listed in the dashboard view with all the lenses?

01/13/2008 10:04 am -- A new module: Roots Television videos

I'd love to see the ability to add videos from www.rootstelevision.com to some of my lenses that deal in genealogy and family name ancestor searches. Is this possibly on the horizon?

Thanks much.

04/14/2008 11:35 am -- Feature to include: Number of modules in lenses

I believe I've seen a lensmaster post something about starting a group for colossal lenses. I know that I've got more than a few with a great number of modules. Some of these lenses could well be split into 2 or 3 more lenses ...

Can we have some data from HQ on ...

* Number of modules, on average, in a lens
* Number of modules used in the longest lens
* Number of modules used in the shorted lens(es) -- isn't there a prerequisite of number of lenses to get a lens out of WIP?

My requested feature: Include somewhere in the lens template that we are building the number of used modules -- Why? I've got a few lenses that were created about 2 years ago and they are pretty long. How long is too long? Hmmm, size does matter!

04/14/2008 11:37 am -- Feature requested: Capability to designate modules to split out

... to create another lens or two.

I've been seeing forum posts about the suggestion of splitting out a long lens into more focused lenses for a number of valid reasons.

I'd like to see the capability to have check boxes next to specific modules in the preview mode to say ... "move me please" or "transfer me please" to a new lens that I am creating. Once I hit "submit" ... the modules would MOVE to that new lens.

04/19/2008 12:29 pm -- Feature requested :: Lensroll info in workshop for lens

I know that in a lens' workshop that you can see the various lenses that have been lensrolled ONTO that particular lens. Still thinking that'd it would be great if we could re-arrange the order on those by dragging or whatever.

What I'm asking:

Can we ALSO see all the lenses to which this particular lens is LENSROLLED so that we can edit that at one time without having to open each and every lens where it might have been lensrolled.

Peace, love, and all that jazz. ;-)

05/23/2008 9:39 am -- Master backup capability for lensmasters.

Hearing about Glen's predicament today about the numerous -- way too many -- missing lenses has prompted this requested feature.

I know that lensmasters can download a backup in XML of lenses individually ... but how difficult would it be to select a number of lenses from the dashboard to be backed up/downloaded to a lensmasters' hard drive?

Is this realistic?

05/30/2008 8:33 am -- Dashboard SORT capabilities?

I'm not finding it capable to sort on headers in the new dashboard. Has this topic been discussed yet?

Also ... how do I know I have a new comment unless I check on the comments tab -- yes, I can see a pending comment in the featured lens on my digest, but otherwise I don't know I have comments to approve.

05/30/2008 8:34 am -- Joining a GROUP -- lensroll of lenses: make them alphabetical

Is it just me or does anyone else have a challenge when they go to join a group and simply cannot find a particular lens? I'll hunt and hunt and then it seems I forget which lens I was looking for.

05/30/2008 9:53 am -- I need some HOT STUFF!

OK, got your attention? I'm sitting here tapping my foot [RLS ?] to Donna Summer on The Today Show.

How about a template to showcase our FAVORITE SONGS? I know there is SquidLit. But, there really isn't a cool template for favorite songs.

I've done only one lens, I think, that showcases a song that I'd consider a favorite -- What is Love. That would have been cool in a special song template.

05/30/2008 9:55 am -- Add a lensroll, or grouproll, of Groups to lensmasters' pages.

I'm sure someone else has asked for this, but I'd really like to see a lensroll of a lensmaster's GROUPS on their lensmaster page.

It seems like a lot of searching to find that person's groups.

Why not reward lensmasters for their good "requested features"

06/02/2008 6:48 am -- Lens dashboard :: Remove 'become giant squid' message for Giant Squids

Can we giant squids see a different message in that lower left hand corner other than ...

Become a Giant Squid!
Giant Squids are elite lensmasters. They have a rare combination of quantity and quality. If you have at least 50 lenses that you think are outstanding, and performing quite well, nominate yourself as a Giant Squid. (send to: giants@squidoo.com)

Perhaps something like ...

Earn a Purple Star!

Yeah!

06/06/2008 1:13 pm -- Requested Feature :: Rolling, revolving lensroll on lenses

How about doing a revolving or rolling lensroll of the lenses that we lensroll to lenses ... I previously had suggested that we would have the capability on our workshop view of a subject lens, to move the lensrolled lenses around to decide #1-#5 placement.

Is it possible to give equal time to all the lensrolled lenses?

P.S. Anyone else having difficulties when you go to click on the X to remove a lensrolled lens from another lens in workshop ONLY to actually click on the lens and be taken AWAY from your workshop mode. ????

06/06/2008 1:58 pm -- Requested Feature :: eBay module -- display

I'd like to have the capability using the eBay module to model it after the display option that is currently available in the Amazon module ...

for thumbnails across the page.

06/24/2008 8:16 am -- Requested Feature: Dashboard Tab with Fans List

I'd like to see another tab on my dashboard of the lensmasters with which I am fans -- perhaps a view something like the following as seen as the favorites on a lensmaster's lens? With the ability to toggle to the lensmasters' profiles? And, then carry it a bit further with a tab of those lensmasters that have added me as a fan?

07/04/2008 9:35 am -- Requested Feature :: MORE Lensmaster Profiles

I'd sure love to see more of the lensmasters interviewing lensmasters profiles ... on the Profile page:

http://squidu.com/Profiles

Is that an 'open'/dynamic project?

I know the Giant Squid Organizers have done interviews ... perhaps those can be rolled into a singular location?

07/04/2008 9:37 am -- Requested Feature :: New Badge substitution

Perhaps this is in the works? For those who have qualified for The Giant Squid 100 Club ... I've been seeing the LARGE badges on the lensmasters' profiles ... when will that badge be showing in place of or along with the mini badges that are default badges on lenses?

Nice job on the graphics guys!

07/05/2008 10:53 am -- Requested Feature :: Perhaps a bit controversial ... Ratings

This may be a bit controversial, but I think it makes a bit of sense ... when a lensmaster leaves a STAR rating, why not have a Ratings Picture area beneath the Favorited Lensmasters in the right column to show THOSE LENSMASTERS who took time to STAR rate the page?

I know that on Amazon if you leave a review of a product, it shows name, location, comment.

Why NOT show which lensmasters have reviewed/rated a lens page??

07/05/2008 10:55 am -- Requested Feature :: Contact me emails -- add the LENSMASTER!

I've been getting a lot of contact me emails direct from my lenses and it would be quite helpful if the lensmaster's name were also included.

And, if they are NOT yet a lensmaster, us lensmasters could encourage them to join and perhaps add them to our referral area?

07/06/2008 2:57 pm -- Requested Feature :: Archive Info on the Royalty Payments

I'd like to be able to go back through my history and be able to have an archived report of what composed the royalties for a particular lens for that month's payment.

For example, I'm looking back at the December 2007 payment for a jewelry lens -- I see that the royalty payment was $21.87 -- what exactly comprised that payment for a one-month royalty? That didn't include the lensranking payment either.

I somehow was off on vacation at that time and didn't think to check the lens' individual stats when I returned from that catamaran vacation.

07/06/2008 8:01 pm -- Fix the Amazon Module on the NEW HMB debate lens' template

The Amazon module is now NOT maximizing to show the 5 items in thumbnail view across the page -- only 4 are showing. It looks rather weird to see the 1 single straggler on the next line.

If 5 is the max of items offered in that module, I suggest that 5 be able to show across the one column in any of the templates.

Pretty please :: please make the sizing work so that 5 items in thumbnail view show across.

Thanks mucho!

07/18/2008 4:02 pm -- Requested Feature :: Additional info in the stats

I'd like to see, as we see the data about individual lenses -- best lensrank overall achieved and number of days in Top 100 -- the information as that lensrank pertains to positioning in the Top 100 by category / topic.

I can think that might be tricky for those lenses that have changed categories, but since this info does show on each lens dynamically daily, can't that be reported in or dashboard stats too?

That'd be cool.

07/18/2008 4:05 pm -- Requested Feature :: Groups tab of info -- include

I think I -- or someone else has asked this -- but is it possible to sort the groups page? I think it's currently listed by date, by default, to show the oldest groups first.

What I would like to see is a blurb on each group, like we currently see for featured lenses, so that we have an idea of what type of lens qualifies for that group.

Can the groupmaster name be included?

Can we have a total number of how many of our lenses are in that group?

07/19/2008 10:14 am -- Requested :: TAKE off that NEW picture of the 2 orange people PLEASE!

Yep -- that new avatar of the 2 orange people isn't what I personally want to say about my lenses.

NO offense to the creator / designer ... but IT's NOT me and I can gather it's not a lot of other people either.

Thank you and good morning!

07/23/2008 5:21 pm -- I'm SURE someone else has asked for this

Probably Susan, or someone else, has requested this ...

When the payouts get paid for the lenses and we can view that in the stats area and see a monthly listing, how difficult would it be to post the lensrank of that lens to correlate with the payout?

Does that make sense and who else might have asked for this?

08/13/2008 9:05 am -- Is this planned for the near future on our profiles?

Does this make sense to see on our profiles -- when that view will change in the near future -- to see a thumbnail view of our social network memberships -- like we already see in each lens for submitting to the social network sites. I see where many lensmasters are promoting different social network memberships already.

P.S. Don't know if this has already been asked/answered.

08/14/2008 4:22 pm -- Red light or something on dashboard when Google traffic disappears?

I just found that my Google traffic had disappeared from one of my lenses where my content showed up on a Southeastern Asian country website -- that website's post is in the top search results, yet my original lens is NOT. Stolen content.

When I look at my stats for that lens, in the pie chart, for 30 days it shows NO Google traffic. I thought something was funny with the lens.

So, is it possible that if Google traffic disappears that a flag could show on that lens?

10/10/2008 9:40 am -- Fancy-doodle up the text module features

Since so many lensmasters are now customizing the text modules with fancy dotted/solid lined boxes and nice colored shading/backgrounds, I'd like to see the capability to colorize the text box, add dotted or solid lines. And, perhaps customize font -- size, color, type.

And, most importantly to automatically adjust any 'uploaded' image in that text box to be offset with a horizontal spacing of 10 to allow for the dotted/solid lines.

As we have now capabilities to colorize the blackbox, can this easily be done with that text module?

10/16/2008 5:12 pm -- Requested Feature: If too many tags are not a good thing

Why not reduce the capability of adding 40 tags to a lens? Perhaps scale that back down to 12? Or maybe 18?

What is the magic number -- I don't feel that I can adequately describe a lens in just 5-6 tags or combination of short phrases.

HealthChecker wrote:

Number of Tags: 22. Warning: Your tags need some work. Here's the tricky part: Too MANY tags, and irrelevant tags, is no good. But only having 1 tag is also no good. Try this: Think of the 5 or 6 best keywords or keyphrases for this lens, and add them to your tag list. Delete the rest. We're betting that will help.

Dear HealthChecker: I've already knocked my list down by 18. I don't feel 22 should equate to a Warning.

10/16/2008 5:50 pm -- Requested Feature: Module w/the 'power of recommendation'

Rather than creating my own text module that would have a Squidoo button/banner, it'd be nice to have a module that tells a snippet about Squidoo, and encourages the reader to join Squidoo and create a lens page. From time to time, I've used a few of the different provided buttons, but think it might be a nice touch to add such a module to the end of lenses -- if a lensmaster chooses.

I've seen the make a new lens at the top of my lenses, but wonder how many new first-time lensmasters actually click there?

In the module the lensmaster would enter their user ID to show their referral link.

10/18/2008 6:40 pm -- Requested Feature: ebay to go module

http://togo.ebay.com/

Will we be getting an eBay to go module in the near future? I realize it's in beta now.

ebay wrote:

10/27/2008 11:18 am -- Requested Feature: Tab on dashboard for emailed invites

My outlook was a bit messed up over the weekend and it got me to thinking. What if those lensmasters who sent out emailed invites to visit their lenses -- if that could be found in a tab on our dashboards?

Hope that makes sense!

11/07/2008 3:36 pm -- Requested Feature: StickyNote

I'd love the capability to color coordinate the StickyNote module rather like the colors of the blackbox ... with the addition of perhaps 2 MORE colors:

Light Pink
Hot Pink -- fuchsia

The StickyNotes that I use for work are hot pink.

12/08/2008 1:28 pm -- Thinking about hubby's GPS, howz about this module?

A MapQuest module to coincide with Google maps -- ahem, when Google maps aren't working?

12/24/2008 11:02 am -- If eBay or Amazon Modules are producing zero results

Can they toggle to NOT show on the lens -- like a WIP module -- ?

Or, is there a way, like in a MS Access query -- if results return a null value, then show this result?

Is it possible on the dashboard to show lenses that do have these 'no results' modules -- or is it assumed that in the 'needs to be edited' tab that those are the types of lenses most likely to have zero results modules from eBay and Amazon?

wink

Merry Christmas you all.

01/17/2009 11:15 am -- Requested Feature: New Module Please

I'd like to have the TwitterStorm TwttrStrm as an interactive module so that we can add that to our existing or new OTHER format lenses to give them new life rather than creating a TwitterStorm lens -- I'd like that option of flexibility.

Thanks for listening and considering.

PS I love the TwitterStorm template -- and have only tried one thus far. See some good ones!

03/12/2009 10:54 am -- Requested Feature: Credits / Resources Module Please

I love the new About Me module -- it's a terrific addition to each and every lens to complement what bio is already there.

Now, I'd love to see the Credits / Resources module that would be used to cite the references, resources, credits used to generate a lens -- I've seen different lensmasters who use the text write module to handle this and they do a great job of citing the resources and credits. How about this -- and making the capability to have it as a default on all our lenses if we opt to have it?

03/20/2009 2:41 pm -- Requested Feature: Slight Modification to About Me

I love the "About Me" module and have been inserting it into my lenses when I get the time -- however, I'd like the capability of entering other lensmaster's name -- for instance, I am the curator of another lensmaster's lens -- I wanted to use that module today to show MORE about THAT lensmaster -- but I saw I couldn't edit that module -- that it was tied to my information.

05/01/2009 11:28 am -- Lensmaster who have been awarded Purple Stars -- more than one!!

Wow -- this morning I learned that Susan52 now has earned a second purple star. That is truly amazing -- way to go Susan!

I realize that our dashboards have a link to view purple star lenses. BUT, how does the normal reader of lensmaster lenses know that the lensmaster has more than ONE purple stars???

Let's take our wonderful lensmaster Susan for example -- on her profile it shows a purple star up above -- but we don't know she now has 2 of these -- what about when she might have 3 or 4???

Is there a way to show that she has more than 1 purple star??? Like a purple star to the 2nd power??? wink

P.S. Another thought -- that there is a capability for the purple lenses to be added to the left hand portion of the lensmaster's profile -- through another couple of blank links area on the profile for info ... "Purple Star Lens #1" ____________ "Purple Star Lens #2" ____________ "Purple Star Lens #3" ____________ etc.

07/17/2009 3:32 pm -- Requested Feature: Duel Module Comments -- Reply To!

I've been thinking about this for awhile -- and it came back to me today when my mom left a comment in one of my duel modules -- I really wanted the ability to reply to her comment specifically on that duel module, rather than just leaving another duel comment. You know, like we are able to answer our Guestbook Reader Comments as a Reply To?

Can we do this

07/20/2009 12:23 pm -- Requested Feature: Squidoo Dashboard Enhancements

Can this be done to appear on our dashboards? I know that you can see Fluff's SquidUtils advanced dashboard to show category and type.

Category: http://squidutils.com/dashboard.php?fil %u2026 t=category
Type: http://squidutils.com/dashboard.php?fil %u2026 ;sort=type

Can we see perhaps in a tab the different categories and likewise types?

I've thought of going through my lenses and adding labels for the categories and types, but that's a heap of work when Fluff already shows us our lenses as they are currently listed by categories and types.

Footnote: Noticing under types that there is a category for Unknown -- 5 of those were generated utilizing the SuperHero Project template and 1 is the AnswerDeck lens. Why are those considered unknown?

07/25/2009 8:21 am -- Requested Feature: Forum -- Edit the Subject please

Gosh, when I saw my subject right after I submitted my message, I shuddered that I had made a typo with the word "it's" !!! Yes, this is also something that I am very cognizant of -- I'm always thinking "it's" = it is = and "its" as possessive. But, ooops made that mistake and wanted to change it, but alas -- we must be very careful when we type our subject as everyone will always see those errors even though we realize they are errors and we can't fix 'em!

Thanks for the consideration. I don't think I'm stupid, just rushed for time -- which is really not a good excuse, I think.

07/27/2009 12:16 pm -- Requested Feature: Ability to see more SquidCasts on dashboard!

I see the current cap is set at 25 for how many SquidCasts we can view on our personal dashboards. I'd like the capability to expand that number -- 50, 100, 200, etc. Can this be done? Or can there be an enhancement, to see the SquidCasts grouped by lensmaster?

07/29/2009 9:07 am -- Requested Feature: Ability to see HOW MANY modules each lens has.

The idea has been offered where we should think about creating more niche-like lenses that would surely shorten the length as the topic is more focused.

Would like the capability to have a count, to show how many modules each lens has -- and show that information readily in the dashboard and perhaps in the workshop mode -- I'm usually taking a look at the intro TOC, and counting by two to figure out how many modules I've got.

07/31/2009 9:07 am -- Requested Feature: G-rated Filter on Duel/Guestbook comments

I've had my share of language used in my duel comments and guestbook comments that are not G-rated according to how I was brought up. I don't use the "F" word ever to post thoughts, comments. Can we have a filter, perhaps a G-rated language filter to not accept those types of posts? I have set all of my guestbook comments, and most of my duel comments, to review the post before accepting. I've been seeing a proliferation of that "F" word lately.

08/03/2009 9:10 am -- Requested Feature: Thoughts on Modifying Lensmaster Profile Page

IMPO, it would be cool to get another tab view for the roll call of lensmasters' lenses on the profile page to show them grouped by Topic/Category -- a Topic view to give the reader a new view of the lensmasters' interests and expertise -- by Topic!

08/03/2009 9:14 am -- Requested Feature: Guestbook Spiffying Up

IMPO, I'd love the ability to upload a picture in the Guestbook module -- like you have the capability in the Poll module. The Guestbook module could offer a couple of choices for the header/banner for that module or give the lensmaster the capability to upload their own 'custom' banner. I've seen several lensmasters already using some interesting graphics and banners.

08/06/2009 7:02 am -- Requested Feature: New Template: Vintage/Sepia

Was it mrlewissmile who recommend a 1970s style template? I'd like to see a historically vintage, perhaps Sepia style template like a turn of the century, old-timer template if possible and if considering any new ones.

08/07/2009 12:59 pm -- Requested Feature: Lens Creation/Edit -- Tags Suggestions

Let me see if I can explain what I'm thinking. If when we create a lens or when we go to edit that lens and we check the tags to add pertinent ones or to remove irrelevant ones, what if these were suggested for that lens to make it pertinent and better? It would seem that this can be done since I can see green, white, and red attributes when I add in or review my tags. Is this too strange of a request? Or, how about seeing a tag cloud for that lens and we can pick out the pertinent tags? I'm just thinking that if the tags that we put in can be green, white, or red, then why not make that recommendation to the lensmaster? Or perhaps when we would run it through the health checker, that ideas would pop up for tags and we could select them with a radio box???

Did I make any sense????

08/09/2009 9:35 am -- Requested Feature: Contact me buttons module

I'd like to see a module entitled "Contact me" with the capability to select from buttons to use so that the reader can contact you directly from that lens. I was just reading CleanerLife's lens with the helpful instructions of how to add such a button -- how about if it were a module?

Thanks!

08/11/2009 10:10 am -- Requested Feature: Ability to customize SquidU Forum for our viewing!

Let me see if I can adequately explain this -- I would like the capability to bookmark discussions, mark as favorite certain thread e.g. thefluffanutta shared some pretty neat code this morning: ReTweet Button -- if I could click a + [plus] button and add that to my forum view for favorites. Then, certain discussions that I might have started -- select those to follow-up on. Do you get what I'm saying? A personalized forum view/dashboard if you will. Lots of potential here!

08/11/2009 10:13 am -- Requested Feature: Marquees -- Sliding/Scrolling - some animation!

I'm thinking that it would be pretty cool to have a Marquee Module -- Sliding/Scrolling that would be something like the BlackBox on Animation to be color coordinated and to have animation to slide/scroll some text.

08/11/2009 10:52 am -- Requested Feature: Working with Viewing SquidCasts Idea!

I know that thefluffanutta was responsive to my last request regarding the SquidCasts; i.e., the ability to see more than 25 of them.

This suggestion is a little different -- thinking outside the box, how is there a way to get a list of SquidCasts by lensmaster? For example, I'm first thinking that I'd like to see a list on my dashboard through a button tab to show me the chronology of my last SquidCasts. Then, carrying that a bit further -- would we want the capability to see on a lensmaster's profile, by tab, their SquidCasts should the lensmaster have enabled that button tab?

I wanted to do a SquidCast this morning for one of my newer lenses, but at a glance, I didn't remember if I had squidcasted it yet. I went to look in my dashboard for the list of SquidCasts, but didn't see it readily. I know that I can probably figure it out by hitting the cast button for that lens and it should show me the history of any squidcasts.

Oh, another thought -- what if there were a tab or something on the view of the lens itself to see a comment type view to show that the lensmaster did a squidcast on that lens?

08/13/2009 9:26 am -- Requested Feature: Apply Templates to Lensmasters' Profiles!

Well, I've been thinking, how difficult would it be for us to roll out those neat looking templates to our profile pages? I'm thinking I could use a "moment of Zen" for a change.

What do ya say? Can we do it please?

08/14/2009 9:05 am -- Please fix the intro page for Squidoo.com

I've been seeing this 'message' -- I think in red -- several times now when I haven't logged in yet to my Squidoo account. It goes something like this, "you are not authorized to view this page." Can we take that off of the welcome page? I know that in the Google search results it says, "Squidoo: Welcome to Squidoo. Squidoo. The popular (free) site for creating single webpages on your interests and recommendations. Even earn money for charity or yourself." -- That is a nice friendly message. But to then possibly see the "you are not authorized to view this page" might contradict that.

08/19/2009 4:31 pm -- Requested Feature: On Dashboard -- List / Show Which Template on Lens

Is it possible to show for an overall, at a glance view, the templates being used by lenses -- you know rather than having to identify with a label which can become rather cumbersome for those of us with over 100 lenses.

08/31/2009 9:43 am -- Requested Feature: Let me grab that poll please!

I've got several polls that I use on my lenses which I'd like the ability to grab and insert into LIKE-minded, related lenses -- maintaining the 'counts' or votes. I know everyone is working on the widgets for the module page modules -- can we be able to grab our own polls for inserting into our other lenses please?

Thanks and have a great day everyone!

08/31/2009 12:35 pm -- Requested Feature: Lenses Lensroll List in Workshop Mode

I know that you can see the lensroll list in the workshop mode for what is lensrolled to THE lens being edited/worked on. BUT, how do you see the list where all that there lens is lensrolled TO? I'm thinking that we could maybe see that information in the Squidaholic mode, if that app was functioning.

Is there some way, Fluff, that SquidUtils will provide that dynamic list? I'm wondering if Google would be able to produce such results through searches? Or would it be that backlink checker app?

09/09/2009 9:18 am -- Requested Removal: That link to twitter received upon publishing = WHY?

WHY??? If you do a search on Twitter you will see that there is an over-use of that TOO easy link to Twitter when you publish your lenses.

Search on: just updated Squidoo

So, because that link is there, it has encouraged over-use to the level that it would appear some lensmasters are "publishing" their same lenses more than once a day in some instances and hitting that link to send the tweet to twitter that they "just updated their Squidoo lens."

Moderation is key in the use of promotional vehicles. I'm sure there are some differing opinions on this, but I think that even sending ONE "updated Squidoo lens" PER DAY, each day of the week, for any one lens is TOO much. Then consider, multiple times, and then daily too?

LESS is MORE.

09/09/2009 12:09 pm -- A Possible Requested Feature: Controversial perhaps!

I tweeted a couple of days ago a thought that occurred to me, it speaks for itself: "An edgy idea - what if the number of blessings and dings were visible along with the star ratings? Some would like; some would not. #squidoo"

As I mentioned above, some would like it; some would not. It would surely remove any mystery about some lenses ranking higher. This data would be anonymous as are the star ratings, but would give a popularity/liked index rather like you see in the IMDB site -- a gain in popularity over a certain time period, along with a loss of popularity.

09/12/2009 11:03 am -- Requested Feature: Countdown to Lensrank Update in Dashboard on TOP

Idea -- can we get an idea of when lensrank WILL update? Is it now 'stabilized' that when it does update that it will be a particular TIME of day? I'm thinking that there is a target time -- when is it? Could that info be posted to the very top of our dashboards -- you know where it tells us THAT lensrank has updated. Maybe a countdown module type clock that clicks down to the lensrank update? You know like an auction zone?

Thanks to our MiMi aka GrowWear for suggesting that I put this one of my ideas here in requested features.

09/17/2009 3:36 pm -- Requested Feature :: Brands meet Dashboard Stats

Gosh, would you believe I was dreaming about this? Well, kind of as I was half awake this morning and started chatting with dear old hubby about you know THINGS.

What I thought might be cool -- if at all possible -- is to take that new brands template and use that concept to pull in all the stats from an individual lens to give it a one-page view -- to incorporate the various graphs -- traffic, stats, clickouts, royalties -- to pull all the various tabs of data -- and to also incorporate that which used to be on the Squidaholic page. Personally, when I am doing statistical analyses and getting a handle on the data available, it helps to get it organized in one pass.

Of course this would be private pages -- does this make any sense?

09/17/2009 3:39 pm -- Requested Feature :: A Minor Edit to that Monthly Summary Stats

I'd like to see one additional number in the listing that shows breakout of royalties per lens and by various charity or cash -- to show next to the lens name, the first column perhaps, the average monthly lensrank that is attributed to that lens for the payout.

Yeah yeah ... I know I can see it on my dash, but having quite a number of lenses makes you dizzy or dizzier than normal going back and forth to check that number. TY!

09/17/2009 3:41 pm -- Requested Feature :: WYSIWYG Capability to Generate PDF of Lens

Not sure if any other lensmaster would find this of value, but I'd surely love to be able to print out a WYSIWYG -- what you see is what you get -- copy of my lenses -- to show the template driven content. Can I do this already? You know print to PDF?

09/17/2009 4:24 pm -- Requested Feature :: Now Wouldn't This Be Interesting IF Possible?

So, this is a bit outside the box and perhaps a little out there -- BUT, consider this for a moment. Think about that really cool Squidoo cookbook that was recently put together by some talented lensmasters amongst us. OK, got that picture in your mind?

Wouldn't it be cool if the 'body' of our work; i.e., our published lenses could all be imaged to appear in a printed 'book' - ebook? Gosh, I think this could be cool. To see a printed publication of your work on Squidoo!

I think this might be a little ways off -- but no harm done putting a pie in the sky idea out there to think about! What if there was some way that you could go through your wealth of lenses, select those you wanted with a radio box/checkbox and then earmark them to go to print -- print on demand?

Maybe I am the only one with family and friends -- but it would be kind of neat as something to send them ... perhaps.

Yes, no or not???

09/17/2009 4:30 pm -- Requested Feature :: What IF, God Forbid Something Happened to Us?

This was one of the things that dear old hubby was awakened to early this morning to hear me discussing -- he actually got it and seemed to be nodding in agreement that it might be worth considering.

We were discussing in another thread early this week about wondering how some lensmasters are, since we hadn't heard from them recently. We've already lost a fellow lensmaster not too long ago.

This is the thought -- what would happen to OUR body of work should we pass on to meet our maker? Some may not think about this, but I know I would CARE! I'd surely love to have a living will or some kind of capability on my desktop to indicate my wishes!

Hubby and I debated this -- that the author's work would continue, but would show a in memoriam type of bio. We discussed that the lens settings would all revert to charity, as so indicated in the wishes of that author.

#2 We also chatted about the idea that said lensmaster would have possibly designated a next of kin lensmaster who would receive said lensmasters' lenses as they would be transferred to their account for doing as they saw fit.

So? Does this sound too out there???

09/21/2009 11:32 am -- Requested Feature :: Perhaps a slight 'improvement' to Lensroll list

I was just checking in the SquidU Forum to see what I've already suggested in Requested Features for the lensroll. I didn't realize that I had more than one thought, but am adding that here as part of this discussion.

4/19/08 - Lensroll info in workshop for lens
6/06/08 - Rolling, revolving lensroll on lenses
8/31/09 - Lenses Lensroll List in Workshop Mode

I'm still in favor of those suggestions listed previously.

Today -- I am adding an additional, minor or slight improvement -- Some lensmasters may have longer than usual lenses in their lensroll for the Recommends view. Is there a possibility that these can be broken up into groups of 5s? You know, make a space between every 5.

10/01/2009 1:39 pm -- Requested Feature: Jazz up that TOC module

The TOC table of contents module can be pretty awesome in how you can opt out of certain modules showing as listed in that module -- so that you could use multiple TOCs to segment focus for lengthy lenses.

Can you jazz up or spiffy up the presentation through that module any? Fonts, number of columns, borders and colors? It is such a great module and there are the lensmasters who create their own jazzy contents listing -- would it be possible to visit that module and enhance it any?

Peace!

10/07/2009 11:58 am -- Requested Feature: Viable to consider module for Google Image Searches

Would this be a viable consideration to have a Google Image Search module for images found through Google Image Searches -- like the Flickr Image Module OR would this NOT be a viable idea considering possible copyright issues? Or, would there be a work-around like for Flickr?

Welcome to the Squidoo Requested Features Guestbook!

Would you like to request a feature for this page perhaps?

Have you made any suggestions in the Requested Features thread in the SquidU Forum? Have any ideas to add to mine? Just want to say "Hey?" I love to hear from my readers -- please take a moment to let me know that you were here! ;)

I haven't made any suggestions in the SquidU forums lately, but I'm all for the Ebay module displaying horizontally like the Amazon module can. I've also suggested a Cafepress spotlight module, and a Zazzle wouldn't be a bad idea either. Great suggestions!
