Squidoo Tips for Beginners: My Squid Angel Journey

At Squidoo the pages you create are called lenses and you're reading one right now. This is your forum to create a lens about just about anything, as long as you keep it clean. Squidoo prefers to keep things G-rated.

Share your favorite recipe, write about a vacation destination, or make a product lens selling items from places such as Amazon and eBay. The possibilities are endless! Before writing your first masterpiece, I would like to suggest reading some other lenses. This will give you an idea of different ways you can make your lenses, including different modules available. Just use the search box and type in something you're interested in.

When you feel you're ready, go ahead and start your first lens. You'll be given instructions as to what to do as you set it up. Now, if you haven't already done so, head over to the forums and introduce yourself. Once your first lens has been published, post it in the Critique Me forum so you can get some feedback.

When I first joined Squidoo, I tried to learn everything I could. The more I read, the more cool stuff I found out about. For example, leveling up. As you continue your journey you'll find many cool items as you level up. Some of the items include new backgrounds, modules and lens turbo boosts.

You may be wondering at this point how to level up. There are many ways to do this. Every time you visit another person's lens, like it and/or leave a comment, you get points. You also get points whenever someone else does the same for you.

As mentioned earlier, I suggested that you post your new lenses on the Critique Me forum. If anyone is nice enough to check out your lens, return the favor by checking out one of theirs. That's how I started to level up.

Once you get the hang of creating lenses down, you can post your lenses in the Lens Spotlight forum. There are some great people there who will gladly check out your lenses if you check out theirs. Remember, to have a completed lens you'll need 20 likes and 1 Giant Squid like. This is a great way to make that happen.

You'll find that social networking really can come into play. Keep in mind that each time you post a link to one of your lenses to the forums, you are creating a backlink. In addition, be sure to take advantage of other social networking techniques such as Facebook and Twitter. You'll find these buttons along with others on each lens.

I first joined Squidoo on the recommendation of a friend. I'm so glad I did. Squidoo gives many fun incentives to write. You'll find out more as your journey continues.

Now that I have my angel wings I'm working on my next goal of leveling up to a higher Giant Squid level. I'm looking forward to what new goodies will unfold along the way. Hope this lens has been of some help to you and have fun here on Squidoo!
