Things That Help Make Lensbuilding Easier For Me

Squidoo is great for sharing, much of what I've learned since joining has been from other members of Squidoo.

Some Lensmasters are great for giving ideas on how to write better, others explain how to be more artistic.

I've received a lot of inspiration by Lensmasters who reveal tricks, and how-to's related to the behind the scenes aspect of Lens and website building like editing images, adding borders around text and promotional strategies.

In the true spirit of Squidoo's tradition of sharing, and helping others, I've come up with some of my own tips. These are things I actually do, or have gone through for myself, and I thought that others may find this information useful.

Here I've collected my own set of Squidoo Tips to make it easier to find them all in one place.

Lenses About Using The GIMP

The GIMP is a free program for working with images. I had no idea what it was before joining Squidoo, but after learning more about it from a few other Lensmasters, I am now having a lot of fun with it.

The GIMP is a great tool, and I find it is a great way to make my Lenses look better by improving the pictures. From little things like adding some text, to combining several different images into a single picture, I find myself using on almost every Lens I build these days (like for the Intro picture).

Most people have heard of Photoshop, and they know what it is to "Photoshop" a picture. Chances are, if you can do it with Photoshop, there's a way to do it with GIMP, especially for us amateur photo-editors who don't want to buy Photoshop.

All of my GIMP tips and tricks are linked to the following page:

CSS & HTML Tips

One of the best things about Squidoo for me is the chance to learn more. I came here with a head full of how I thought the Internet worked. I had learned how to build websites without knowing much about CSS or HTML. They were bland, and didn't come out the way I had imagined.

Now, thanks mainly to information found here, for free, on Squidoo, I am now much more knowledgeable about how CSS and HTML work behind the scenes to make the experience of the readers much more enjoyable.

I also know enough to realize that there's plenty more to learn, but I've learned enough to experiment on my own. Now I've managed to come across little tricks that help me quickly polish up my own Lenses.

Amazon Tips For Squidoo Lensmasters

You do not need an affiliate account with Amazon to advertise merchandise on Amazon and get paid commissions for any sales made due to that advertising when you use one of the Amazon Modules here on Squidoo!

Promotional Tips

Once a Lens is built, is that really the end?

Of course not!

There is already a lot of information on Squidoo about how to promote your work once you've published it. Based on some interesting problems in the search engines I had recently, I took a closer look at one way, which is using a site called Zimbio.
