A Lensography of ALL My Squidoo Tutorials
I love Squidoo. I love teaching. What do I hate? Seeing newbies struggle and get discouraged. Also, quite frankly, there's more folks around here interested in Squidoo than in ancient Greece.
So I write Squidoo Tutorials. Browse this page to find help with:
- CSS (make lenses look their best!)
- How to get lens traffic
- How to find and use graphics
- Hard-to-find, useful Squidoo features
- General Squidoo tips
- Photoshop Tutorials

Whether you're a total newbie or just need a CSS cheat sheet, use this easy CSS Codes Tutorial and Quick Reference to change text, colors, paragraphs, backgrounds and borders.
You can do even fancier tricks with CSS. Match Squidoo Themes, Colors and Backgrounds (as I've done here), make a Virtual Chalkboard (above), create Fancy Tables of Contents to link between lenses or between pages on a Page Break lens, or raid my grab bag of tricks in Advanced CSS.
Getting Traffic to Your Squidoo Lens
Monsters are nice, but we want VISITORS!
There's four basic ways to get visitors:
- CONTENT (Also, presentation). Have lenses worth visiting.
- SEO. Search engine optimization. Get search engines to send traffic.
- SOCIAL MEDIA. Twitter, Facebook, forums...there's many ways to advertise.
- COMMUNITY. You draw or repel visitors with every post, contribution and interaction. Participating builds connections, and the web is built on connections.
This three-part tutorial, "How to Get Your Lens Found," focuses on 1, 2, and 3:
Part I: Ten Steps to Make an Effective Lens
Part II: Build Web Traffic Through Social Media
Part III: SEO: Squidoo Search Optimization
BONUS: How to Get More Clicks, Sales
Graphics: Where to Find Them, How to Use Them
...plus, how to add captions

Every lens needs graphics!
They make your point. They draw the eye. But most of us aren't artists. And most images on the web are copyrighted. So what do we do?
Browse Free Web Graphics: Where to Find Them (Legally)! to get great graphics for your Squidoo lenses.
Use How to Upload Images to help you add graphics TO your Squidoo lenses, either by uploading them onto Squidoo, or hosting them on a site like Flickr, Photobucket or Picasa.
Consult this Graphics Layout Tutorial to center a graphic, put a graphic side-by-side with text, or add a caption under a graphic.
Learn about Hotlinking, to avoid getting a virtual wedgie like John McCain did.
Use my Zazzle Graphics HTML Templates to display graphics from Zazzle stores, which will pay you a referral bonus!
Finally, see the Photo Gallery Module Tutorial for a great way to display graphics, plus a lesson on resizing images.
