Squidoo Point Systems & Unlockable Items

Note: Since February 12th, 2011, I noticed that there have been changes in Squidoo point systems. For example: now, you'll get points when someone voted in your poll, half-point for squidliking other lenses, extra points for amazon sales, and so-on.

I discovered that the changes above are permanent, so here is the updated points system as of March 2011.

In Squidoo, we will get points when:

For newbie:

- First join Squidoo, to welcome new member Squidoo will give us our first 100 points.
- Join Lens of the Day (LotD) fan club, we'll get 99 points.
- Verify our email address, we'll be awarded 40 points.
- Add picture on our bio page - 50 points
- Write Squidoo bio - 50 points
- Start our first lens - 20 points
- Add first amazon module on our first lens - 20 points
- Add first intro photo on our first lens - 40 points
- Publish our first lens - 100 points

Visiting other lensmasters' lens:

- Squidlike other lensmasters' lens (between 2 - 4 points)

- Squidliking lenses

I love visiting other lensmasters lenses as everytime I visit their lenses, I learn something new.

On my first month in Squidoo, I would look for lenses which have similar content as my interests and I would tried my best to find out which Squidoo modules they use, what kind of HTML code they wrote to make the lenses tidy and pleasant to read.

So it's very common for me to visit 5 lenses consecutively and liked those lenses.

Sometimes I left comments, but I hate spamming other people lenses (and I hate people spam my lenses too), so if I don't have anything to say (but I like their lenses), I would only liked their lenses without leaving any comment.

Note: Please do not try to earn more points by leaving spam comments in other lensmasters lenses. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything! You might hurt other people's feeling!

If you want people to critique your lens, go to Squidu Forum - Critique Me Thread. Other lensmasters will be very happy to give feedback for your lenses.

- Completing Squidoo Quests

We will have to follow the instructions, find other lensmasters lenses based on the quest and create a lens based on the topic of the quest. It's fun, challenging and it's a great way to gain heaps of extra points.

- Vote on polls

Yupe, everyone who knows me know that I love answering polls and quizzes. So every time I found a lens with polls that would interest me, I'd go straight to that lens and have a lot of fun voting the polls & answering quizzes.

So, what the points are for?

These are the questions asked by many newbie, and here's the answer.

Just like in games, you need to get points to level up to get a special weapon / items.

Squidoo is the same.

The more points you earn in Squidoo, the higher your level will be and the more items you'll unlock.

These items can help you in your Squidoo journey, make your lens more attractive or even give you a chance to gain special Squidoo power

Decorate your lens with a Winter Holiday theme. Festive and snowy. Wear your mittens.

Zappos Module
You unlocked the Zappos module. Add the module, add your favorite shoes or clothes or accessories to it, and spotlight it on your shopping lenses.

You've unlocked Unlimited Power! You may now publish as many lenses as your brain can conceive. Quality is still top dog, of course, but there are no limits on what you can try.
