When I started Squidoo 6 months ago, there were approx. 40,000 lenses. Now, we just broke 100,000 lenses. It is also estimated to be valued at $18+ Million. That is an average of $180 per lens. The popularity of Squidoo has grown as shown by the Alexa ranking.
The number of registered lensmasters is nearing 50,000. Best of all, according to Squidoo HQ, it is actually making money and helping charity. That is a win-win situation in my book. As with any successful business, there are copycats ready to compete. www.hubpages.com is one such site. However, by most reviews, it is not as good and as easy to use.
It is also a fact that once a company becomes profitable, there are scammers wanting to take a piece of the action. Let us all be vigilant and root them out of Squidoo. The success of Squidoo will be due mostly by the hard work of the dedicated lensmasters and their creative CONTENT.
