My 90 Day Squidoo Challenge

So what is the 90 day Squidoo challenge? Well, when I finally realised that the only really successful webpage I had produced on the web was a Squidoo lens, I started to think that perhaps Squidoo is where I should concentrate all of my efforts. What if I devoted 90 days to creating say 45 quality lenses? What if only 4 of those reached the kind of comission levels that I make from what is at the present my most profitable one?

So my challenge is simple - to create at least 45 lenses in 90 days, and to have at least 4 of those making between $130 -$200 a month in re-occuring affiliate commissions. The lenses have to be of good quality and provide information that is valuable to Squidoo and the wider internet community. Of course my hope is that more than 4 will reach that level of income, but I wanted to set a target that I thought to be possible.

If you read any ebook on internet marketing you will be advised to spend money on hosting, a domain name and driving traffic to your website. Often things like free blogs are looked down upon just in case the company that hosts your blog goes out of business or changes their policy. While there might be some truth in this, I can't help but wonder if the people who write these books simply want to make affiliate commissions from you. Creating your own website can be relatively difficult and requires some technical know how; you also need to create a lot of content on one subject; you have to know about search engine optomisation and you have to get traffic to your new site.

The beauty of Squidoo is that many of these difficulties have been removed. Hosting is free, you don't need a domain name, lens are very easy to produce because of Squidoo's drag and drop modules, most of the SEO is done for you behind the scenes by Squidoo, you can build lenses on many different subjects without having to go through the process of buying hosting, domain etc and Squidoo already has traffic coming to it everyday, all you have to do is to make something that is valuable to the community.

I want to prove to myself that it is possible to make a living of of a free site like Squidoo. Now I am not talking about making a six figure income, although that would be nice, I am talking about earning enough replace the income provided by a nine to five job.

So let the challenge begin!
