All the different Squidoo styles in one place

Squidwho, Squidbids, Squidvids. Squidfused? The Squidoo team are creating new kinds of Squidoo page all the time. I've created this lens to put them all in one place.

Somebody already created this lens

But gave it a non-obvious name

Even so, it's more comprehensive than this one so try it out:

Squidoo Co-Branding

Hey MonkeyBrain!

"Where Smart People Go To Argue" -- Squidoo courting controversy

Hey MonkeyBrain lenses are based on a controversial statement that visitors can either agree or disagree with.

The look of these lenses is much edgier: white, black and red colors with bold, cartoon graphics.

The idea is to get people engaged by having them post their point of view, and then provide other content lower down the page. It might be easier to get people to visit this page, by asking them "go their and state your point" or whatever.

Squidlit

This is a quick way to build a nice looking lens about a book. You enter the title and author, SquidLit finds the book on Amazon and puts up some preliminary relevant content.

SquidLit might be a good way to get Amazon referal cash if you can put up the definitive lens on a hot title, especially if there's lots of search-friendly text in your lens.

The SquidLit template describes the lens as "a book discussion hosted by..." and the default modules to present lots of opportunity for interaction.

Books sold big on Squidoo last year, especially non fiction. So creating a book-related lens is a good way to earn some pocket money. Look here to see what works: Bestselling Squidoo books

SquidFlix: get paid to write movie reviews

This is another magicbuild lens style. Give the title of your movie and whether you love or hate it, then answer some questions and hey presto out pops a lens about the movie.

The lens is a sort of "review community" usually called "We love / We hate [movie name]".

DVD sales made OK money on Squidoo last year, but not as much as books. Tip: if you want to sell DVDs, write positive lenses!

SquidWho

For lenses about a person, group, organization -- a people-powered who's who

This is the lens type for biographies or lenses about a person, group, or organization.

If you're building a lens on somebody already famous, the software will do a lot of the work for you to get started.

The lenses have their own style, and each page is titled "who is..." then the topic of your lens.

Check it out here: www.squidwho.com

SquidVids

Super fast video compilations: "Make your own TV channel".

This lets you bring together a bunch of YouTube videos very quickly.

The lens builder starts by searching YouTube and finding the top videos on your topic, as well as some other content for further down the page.

You can then edit the video list so that it excludes duff results, or includes your undiscovered favorite.

You can add non-video Squidoo content too, so it's not just a list of videos.

The pages have a lively yellow design.

Squidbids

The FREE place for trusted eBay sellers to strut their stuff, showcase their auctions and stores, and get more traffic.

This one provides a quick way to create a page about your ebay auctions. You could use it to drive more traffic to your ebay auctions, and also to provide ebay customers with more information about the person they are buying from.

It seems to work best for sellers who specialize in a particular kind of product. If you're clearing out your loft this service probably won't add much.

The pages look much more attractive than the store homepages you can build on ebay.

Squidboo

Scarily disappointing?

Squidboo lets you create a 'halloween themed' lens. Perhaps they look scarier around halloween, but currently Squidboo lenses look just like normal lenses except for a different logo.

And there's no magicbuilding either -- it's just the usual drudgery of creating a lens.

This would be a fun gimmick if the pages had a black background and generally looked nastier. As it is, I can't see much reason to use this one.

If you (s)care easily, check out Squidboo.
