Learn more about Squidoo Charities

We all know how good it feels to donate to charity - and what better way than by using your Squidoo earnings. Find out about the Squidoo charities and how you can donate & create lenses to support their causes.

How do I donate

Squidoo splits its revenue with its "co-op" of lensmasters. 5% goes straight to charity, first. Then 50% goes to the lensmasters. 45% goes to Squidoo. The site estimates that nearly half of all the lensmasters on the site are donating their royalties to any of 65 featured charities.

To donate your lensmaster's 50% to charity, go to the edit mode of a lens, edit your "payment options" in the right hand side bar to change to the Squidoo Charity Fund or your selected charity.

If you want to change your payment options for all lenses, change your "Global Payment Settings" in your profile.

Go to the Headquarters page of your selected charity and click on the big orange "Build My Own Lens" button and you'll be able to create a co-branded page that spreads awareness of and will keep giving to your selected charity.

Of course you can also go to your charities' website and make a direct donation as well !

Warm as charity: why giving feels good

The Age Newspaper June 15, 2007

THE warm, fuzzy feeling from doing a good deed has been placed under scientific scrutiny, with researchers investigating what happens in the brain when people donate to charity.

Using brain-scanning equipment, scientists examined the grey matter of a group of women and found altruism and the "warm glow" were important motives behind charitable giving.

The MadWheels Program currently provides vehicles, at no cost to the recipients, to needy people in the Launceston Tasmanian community. Volunteers work together in the evenings to repair and refurbish donated vehicles, and then present them to families that have a demonstrated need.

At the same time the MadWheels Program provides a mentoring and teaching environment - to those who wish to be involved in areas such as automotive mechanical, panel beating and paintwork training

Our MadHouse project is currently underway%u2026. We have a shortfall in funding of $197,000. We are asking a number of Community and Business groups for small donations until we have enough to complete our total project.

We need a total of $197,000

I really wish it was possible for me to contribute to our LOCAL food bank. The Petaluma Food Pantry is a church sponsored pantry in collaboration with Redwood Empire Food Bank. Either organization would enable our group to help out right where we are.
