Holiday Doodled Squids

The idea for the Squidoodle* lens came from a posting on the Squidu Forum. One post lead to another...one became SquidYule Carols, another, the Squidoodle page.

Here is a collection of the Happythanksmasaween* Holiday inspired Squidoodles (a.k.a Squidys, Squidgets or as I prefer Squidiis). They are listed more or less in order of their appearance (or creation).

These images were created in the spirit of the holidays, inspired by our creative group of lensmasters to share and share alike.

Feel free to use the Squidoodle images for your information lenses and groups, but not for commercial works. In return I ask that you include the creative commons copyright information, a link back to the Squidoodles lens and do something good for someone else.

The Santa Squid Squidu Post

The discussion forum thread and postings that got the Squidoodles going.

I responded to earlier posts commenting about making a Squid Grinch, a Squid Scrooge and the ideas (and requests) started rolling.

If you are interested in getting the best version of the graphics, check out the message forum. Some of the images got a bit corrupted uploading them into the Text /Write Module.

~ Christmas - Winter Holidays ~

.

Squid Grinch

Squid Grinch came out of one of my own comments wondering...

Is there going to be a SquidGrinch for those who aren't happily celebrating the holiday?

I know I spent many an unhappy Christmas and might have been interested in a more Grinchy-type, Scroogy-type or Charlie-Brown Christmas.

Santa Squid

bdkz first mentioned a Santa Squid or Squid Santa.

Lady Got Rocks and GypsyPirate both requested a Santa Squid.

This was the first attempt at a traditional version of Santa Squid (created in conjunction with the St. Nicholas inspired version.)

St. Nic Squid

A Santa Squid, or more appropriately a Saint Nicholas or St. Nic Squid was inspired by my Scandinavian roots.

So...You'd Like to Use a Squidoodle....

What do I need to do?

Using a Holiday-inspired Squidoodle for your lens is pretty simple.
  1. You are free to use the Squidoodle images for lenses, but not for commercial works, as long as you

    * Include the creative commons copyright information from this lens.
    * Include a link back to the Squidoodles lens.

  2. Give proper credit.

GypsyPirate does a good job on the Squidboo Group lens in citing credit for the Squid Ghost. The citation is at the bottom of the Squidboo Group page.

  3. Do something good for someone else.

    * Visit the Sharing Christmas Joy Lens as a way of putting Christmas into perspective.
    * Visit "Click to Give" and in a few clicks of the mouse, you will be making a difference with Hunger, Breast Cancer, Children's Literacy, Pet Rescue and the Rain Forest.

SquidYule Carols

GypsyPirates tribute to all of the Squid inspired Holiday Carols that evolved fairly rapidly from "a gaggle of pretty darned creative folks."

Google Holiday Logos

I have always loved the Google Special Holiday images and when the discussion came up on the Squidu forum, the ideas for Squidoodles just started coming.

I wasn't on board for the first design a squid challenge.

Calling All Lensmasters to 'Design a Squid'

Discussing Design a Squid in The Squidoo Group
The call, earlier in the year to "design your own default lensmaster photo" and create a different Squid.

Squideer

GypsyPirate was hoping for a wee reindeer squid.

One of the easier ones to create. :)

Santa Squid with Bells

Glen requested:

The Santa Squid looks great.

If you could rotate the eyeball so the gleam is up the top it would look even better.

Bonus points if you put little bells on the ends of his tentacles.

I, of course, had to go for the bonus points.

Jingling Squid

After creating the Santa Squid with jingle bells, I thought that having just a squid with jingle bells might be a fun Squidoodle.

Oh What Fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh...

The True Squidoo Design Masters

The inspiration behind the Click to Give lens and the 'Give to Charity' angle came from Janusz, who designs and creates the awesome, free graphic banners gracing many of the Groups in exchange for a minute of time to make a difference to Charities.

A Squid Marley

A Christmas Carol is one of my favorite inspirational Holiday Classics.

Blondheroine suggested that I "turn him a sort of blue, too and make him look like the Disney version of Jacob Marley from the Disney Christmas Carol."

Squid Marley is inspired by her suggestion.

Squid Scrooge

What is Christmas without a little Ebenezer Scrooge, in "A Chrismas Carol"?

(My youngest thought this was Abraham Lincoln.)

A Squidmas Tree

Lady Got Rocks coined "Squidmas" so I created a Squidmas Tree.

A Squidmas Tree with Lights

Requested by Jason E, a Squidmas Tree tangled in lights.

A Charlie Brown Squid

Charlie Brown Squid was created to go along with a soo-to-be created Squidoo lens on "Coping when Having a Charlie Browniest Christmas."*

*You can now read Are You Having a Charlie Brown Chrismas? featured on Squidoo.

Name the Squid Mascot

My vote and suggestion was for Squdii, which puts the emphasis on the "ii's."

A Squid Ghost - for Halloween

Squid Ghost has already materialized as a featured guest on the Squidboo Group Headquarters lens.

Jack-a-Squid - for Halloween

What is Halloween without a Jack-o-lantern?

A Green Jack-a-Squid

This Green Jack-a-Squid is for a Green Halloween.

An Arachsquid - for Halloween

I couldn't resist crafting a spider squid or an Arachnid Squid = Arachsquid.

~ Thanksgiving ~

.

Squiderky - for Thanksgiving

Requested by GypsyPirate for her soon to be live Thanksgiving Group.

My kids are having fun going around saying 'Squiderky.'

Squid Squash - for Thanksgiving

I just liked the sound of Squid Squash (probably since I am teaching nutrition) and when I mentioned this was one of the ones in the works, Gypsy Pirate thought this was quite a hilarious idea (the clean version).

Another Squiderky

Just because it is so much fun to say, a second "Squiderky."

I like the way that this one turned out.

A Squid of Plenty or Squiducopia - for Thanksgiving

Here is a Cornucopia or Horn of Plenty, Squid style.

May your bounty be plentiful this Thanksgiving.

More Squid Squash - for Thanksgiving

I liked the sound of Squid Squash so much that I created another version of the Squidii Butternut Squash.
