Marketing Zazzle Products at Squidoo

I started an account here at Squidoo before I started at Zazzle. In fact, Squidoo is how I found Zazzle. At the time I was using another print-on-demand site and making a small return on my investment of time and money. At first I was worried that I would be spread too thin if I opened a second store. Would I have enough time?

Well, I did eventually open my first sore at Zazzle.com and as luck would have it, that other site I was using at the time erased my entire store full of thousands of products and hundreds of hours invested and refused to recover the data. When life hands you lemons ... make lemonade! I started investing all my time at Zazzle and I haven't looked back. I'm absolutely a happy customer and artist at Zazzle.com and have been for years.

The rest of this lens I'll share some ways I've found to integrate Squidoo and Zazzle and hopefully convince you that you too should join Squidoo so that you can gain quality backlinks to your Zazzle store.

My Store at Zazzle

This cute pooch will lead you to my store at Zazzle.com. If you check out this product in my store without the wording changes, you'll see that it is a template that says "I Love Angelina". But, I've used Zazzle's referral links will retain word changes in the template field. It's a great tool to use on your lenses because you can focus traffic to a best-selling product, but your lenses will have a variety of images and descriptions that are relevant to the lens.

The Start of My Marketing for Zazzlers Series

Over a year ago, I started a Twitter for Zazzlers lens that I've found useful for keeping track of helpful resources. I find Squidoo a great way to keep track of links according to topic. After Squidoo and Zazzle started working together as partners, I began to find more and more resources that didn't fit my first lens ... so the series was born! Well, right now the accurate term is "duo". Eventually I may have enough of topics for a Marketing for Zazzlers Lensography. I don't claim to be the expert! But, I do hope that some of the resources and ideas in thes

How to Use Zazzle Images in the Sidebar of a Lens

Whether you are an artist or photographer with a store at Zazzle.com, or a Squid that wants to increase your referral income at Zazzle, creating a unique BIO with relevant content is another way to get information noticed! Bedazzle with Zazzle! How to Use Zazzle Images in the Sidebar of a Lens demonstrates how to maximize Zazzle.com referral images on your Squidoo.com lenses by adding them to the BIO area.

Using Squidoo's Zazzle Module

For those of us with stores that want to create hundreds of lenses, I've come to the conclusion that using the Zazzle module is our best bet.

Though it is true that will will give up some referral fees by using the Zazzle module, the time we save building lenses will mean more quality links to our Zazzle products. Besides, we can always update our high traffic lenses in the future with more personalized associate links in text modules.

I typically use one large image referral link in the text area of the Zazzle module, but then populate the module with 3, 6 or 9 more products.

How-to Post to Posterous

An account at Posterous is a wonderful too to share information between Zazzle and Squidoo. I'll share a trick below, but first will share how I post Zazzle products to Posterous. I've started using the bookmarklet option to post referral code and other information to my posterous.
The Posterous Bookmarklet
"Select text, video, music or photos from any web page and post it instantly to your posterous, just by clicking a special bookmark. Plus, with Posterous Autopost, it can be your universal bookmarklet for Facebook, Twitter, and your other blogs, without ever leaving the page you're already on."

Using the "RSS: Add your blog" Feature & Posterous Spaces

A handy trick that you can use at Posterous is add tags to an RSS feed. It's fantastic! This can help Zazzlers use one or more tags in their posts to target products to a specific lens here at Squidoo.

For instance, below I'm pulling one headline from the URL

Using the "RSS: Add your blog" Feature & Zazzle RSS Feeds

You can also use the "RSS: Add your blog" module here at Squidoo to pull RSS feeds directly from Zazzle. Here is the page at Zazzle with information on how to create RSS Feed, and this Twittering new Zazzle products - automatically! post on Zazzle's blog that taught me how to add a referral code to RSS.

If you enjoy categorizing your Zazzle store and lenses by color, considering joining some group blogs I have at posterous. A RSS feed with the latest posts on those blogs end up on the Color Blog lens below, possibly other lenses here at Squidoo depending on tags, and at the sister blogs at Blogger. Lens Building Services

Does all this sound great, but you're just not all that sure you want a Squidoo account? I will create a Squidoo lens for your Zazzle store for $5 via Fiverr. I'll make a Squidoo lens highlighting your Zazzle store. It could be a more generic lens, or a specific theme that you choose such as "Yosemite Photography by Photographer". If you want a themed lens, I will include up to 25 family-friendly products of your choice. But, if you want me to pull together a lens you don't have to provide specific products. I can add other modules to your lens such as videos, your Twitter account, your Facebook fan page, an RSS feed showing your blog, and links to your Website (if you have one). I'll maintain page for year+ (life of this account) and will accept monthly update requests. If you're willing to visit your lens and promote it a bit, I'd be more than happy to update as you win a TBA or other award.

Tips About Blogging

These posts at Copyblogger about formulaic blogging give insight on how to build a successful Squidoo lens.
3 Reasons Why You Should Be a Formulaic Blogger
Fiction genres follow specific formulas. Good blogging and content marketing are no different.
7 Reasons Why List Posts Will Always Work
It's a blogosphere favorite for good reason - "list" content works.

Do you consume more than you create?

Reading through Hidden habits of ineffective people, I considered what an artist that is using Zazzle and finds Squidoo as a way to help them promote their store can take from the article. "Effective people tend to create a lot of content" while "ineffective people ... spend the majority of their time consuming the fruits of others' labor."

That statement could have been written for lensmasters. The most effective lensmasters likely create lenses because their nature is to create content. For them, creating content at Squidoo will easily become a habit. Many more lensmasters probably thought Squidoo looked cool when they were surfing around the WWW, but they didn't find success because it is their nature to consume content so they surfed on.

As a Zazzle shopkeeper, you'll find the most success here if you stick around and create content on a regular basis. Does that mean we have to create more than 1000 lenses like giant lensmaster and Zazzle shop owner WeddingZazzle? No, the number of lenses isn't as important as the process. Updating a small number of lenses is still creation. The idea is that most successful use of Squidoo will be to create new content rather than stop in when the mood strikes.

Many of the successful lensmasters probably had a website before they discovered Squidoo because it is in their nature to add to the Internet rather than surf it. As for me, before the Internet, I had a newsletter. The week I got my first Internet connection I was at the bookstore buying a HTML manual and taught myself to transfer that newsletter online.

But, I wasn't quite as interested in the programming languages as I was in writing. Thank goodness for folks like Seth Godin who started Squidoo (in part because he too is a content creator rather than a content consumer). Squidoo is so very easy-to-use on the technical skill front, that the site makes it easy for people to create content. If you recognize that you're a surfer (content consumer), but want to change you can easily use Squidoo to set new goals.

I found you through FB. I hadn't heard of Zazzle before much less considered it, but as a result of your lens I it will buzz around in the back of my mind. I expect I will need to return here to re-read your information.
