How to Squidoo This lens outlines a bunch of the tools you can use on Squidoo.
Okay How Do I Make a Lens?
It's easier than you think
Step 1 - What Do You Want Your Lens to Be About?
Hmmm... The Big Question.
Step 1: You just type in what you want to have your lens about, then click Go to Step 2.
What do you want to tell the world about? Do you want to say why you loved or hated the latest Batman movie? Do you want to rant about the candidates in the latest election? Maybe you just want to boast about how good your softball team is. The limits you set for yourself are yours to break. And remember you can have more than one lens. You can have two, ten or hundred. Just make them good with quality content. I know one guy on here has over 400 lenses and is still adding more!
Step 2 - What Do You Want to Do With Your Lens?
Did You Make This Lens For Charity? Or For Money? Or Just For Fun? You Can Change Your Mind Later
Step 2: You need to decide what you want to do with the lens.
If you just want to get the word out about your topic, click the first option; click the second option if you want the lens to make money for yourself or for charity (always a good idea to give back); click three if you just make a list of your favorite things about your topic; click four if you just want to do your own thing. When you have decided what you want to do with the lens, click Go to Step 3.
Step 3 - Pick a Title For Your Lens and Your Squidoo Address
A Clever Title Will Draw Interest
Step 3: Try to pick a title that will entice people to take a look at your lens. Enter it where it says lens title.
Next, you will also need to choose what your Squidoo internet address is going to be so your lens will eventually get into Google and the other search engines. Most people use the same address as their lens title, but it can be almost anything.
If your lens is going to be called Family Tree Finder, you could enter familytreefinder and it's Squidoo address would be found at: http://www.squidoo.com/familytreeclimber.
Now you need to pick which category your lens would fit into best. There are currently 24 different topics your lens can be listed under. You could have your lens categorixed under computers or animals and nature, shopping. Hey why not make it your goal to make one lens for each category? You are only limited by your own imagination and knowledge.
Finally you will need to decide how to rate your lens. G Rated is the default, but you might choose something else if your lens is a little bit more for adults. Click on Go to Step 4.
-----If it says at the top of the page after you've completed Step 3 that someone has already taken your lens name, you just have to change what you put in the Squidoo address, not the title. If you put in http://www.squidoo.com/familytreeclimber, you would need to change to http://squidoo.com/familytreesandyou or http://squidoo.com/genealogymadeeasy until you've got something that no one else already has. Click Go to Step 4.
Step 4 - Tag Your Page So People Can Find It
Try To Think Of A Keyword Or Phrase That Describes Your Lens
Step 4: You want people to see your work, so make it easier for them to find it.
They'll be able to find it on Squidoo when they search for your lens name, but what about Google and the other search engines?
Try to come up with 3 different keywords that people would type into a search engine to find your page. As an example, if your lens was about making money online, your keywords might be something like marketing, or online marketing, money from home businesses. You can add to or change your choices later.
You'll need to type the squiggly word below your keywords in the box to show that you are a real person and not an automatic computer program.
Now just click "Done!" and you will be taken right to your brand new lens!

One Method Is To Highlight Stuff Available On eBay
One thing that a lot of people do to make a little bit of coinage is to highlight stuff that is for sale on eBay. What you want to do is try to include products that tie in with the theme of your lens. Squidoo pays you a small portion of any sale made which you will receive a little over a month after the end of the current month.
So, if someone buys something from eBay through one of your lenses on December 12th, you won't see the money until you get your December payment (likely around February 10th).
Here's an example of how the eBay module looks. I used "Christmas" as a theme, even though it has nothing to do with Squidoo.
