Squidoo Queen - The Official Squidoo Queen Lens

I expect many of you will already know what affiliate marketing is, if you don't you can read about affiliate marketing here. The biggest problem that people have is trying to find ways of promoting products (both their own and affiliate ones) and getting people to see these products.

Many sites wont let you use affiliate links, others make it difficult for you - at Squidoo they allow you to do it! So not only are you allowed to create your own advertising space on the net totally free, you are able to make money through it too.

Although they allow you to do all this, you must respect the fact that you need to play by their rules, this means that certain topics are off limits and your lenses should be well thought out and helpful to the reader.

Even though Squidoo offers you a revenue share on each of your lenses, it would be a lot harder to build a lens that makes you significant income this way. Note that I say 'harder' and not impossible.

For me though, Squidoo is a fantastic tool for affiliates. Although I create information products to help people place all the information they need together, I am still an affiliate marketer. Teaching is my hobby and I do it because I am passionate about it. The fact that I can get paid for my hobby is a plus.

With such a HUGE amount of benefits it should be becoming more apparent by the second just HOW powerful Squidoo can be for your marketing.

The main question that I get asked is "I've never made a penny online yet - why will Squidoo be any different?" My response is generally that marketing in any form is a learning experience. Most people can relate to the following:

• Hear about someone else making money online


• Decide to have a go yourself


• Read on the internet about it


• Buy a few products


• Give them a go


• Get sucked in by 'the next big thing'


• Read some more


• Buy some more


• Try some more


• Rinse and repeat

You end up going round in circles and getting nowhere fast! In the end you start to doubt yourself. You doubt sales pages even more until you either settle for the few dollars you might make a month or quit. I actually did this for over a year before I realised that I was never going to get very far.

Never give up - Don't go from one program to the next without mastering the basics of marketing first.

Learning From Your Mistakes

If you have been getting no results from the methods that you have been using, then why continue to do the same thing? After all, if you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got!

To this day I make mistakes, I take the mistakes and work out where I went wrong and realise that I have learnt something from it - therefore it's just a learning curve.

One of the biggest mistakes that I made was Squidoo Queen (the name - not the product). Once I had written Squidoo Queen, I had to test it to make sure that it would live up to my claims. I took a small group of people to use as guinea pigs and once they had gone through the course - it was the group that decided to call me Squidoo Queen - it stuck!

At the time I never realised how bad this would be for me long term! I am no Guru and I had no idea about 'branding' etc. I now know that I should have been Kelly Stone from day one. When I first released Blog Traffic Unleashed - Nobody knew who it was by!

I do not think I am royalty and I know that I am not the worlds best Squidoo lensmaster - But I DO get results. I learnt a good lesson and wont make the same mistake twice.

The next most common question that I am asked about Squidoo is "Can I really make money with Squidoo?" I can say that you can make a lot of money with Squidoo if you put your mind to it and follow the basic steps of marketing.

I cannot guarantee that you WILL make money. After all, you are the only person who can answer that. If you know that you are the kind of person that only gives a half hearted attempt, then you are only going to get half hearted results (if you're lucky).

Following the advice above, if you are prepared to work at it, keep with it and really dedicate time and effort to your marketing, then there is no reason why YOU wont earn money with Squidoo.

Once you look around Squidoo and see who is making money here, you will start to see a trend - they all have one thing in common - Quality Lenses!

They build them, they work on them, they test them, they tweak them - in fact, they do everything that it takes to make their lenses profitable.
