SquidQuest: Silly Celebrations - January

Let's Celebrate EVERYDAY!

Sally Celebrations, Squidooville's resident Celebrationista, has just one goal for the upcoming year. She wants to make Squidoo THE GO-TO PLACE for celebration information but she needs your help.

You see Sally noticed that Squidoo is jam-packed with fun festivities for all the really big holidays like Halloween and Christmas but when it comes to some of the smaller daily, weekly, and monthly observances, like Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day and Clean Out Your Inbox Week... well... there's not as much.

That's why Sally is offering a monthly SquidQuest throughout 2012 for lensmasters who love to celebrate to help them spread good cheer throughout the entire year.

To complete this first monthly SquidQuest and collect 200 SquidPoints, Sally asks you to build a lens for a lesser known holiday, celebration or observance that takes place during the month of January.

We'll feature the best of the bunch in a special post at Squidoo HQ and dust spectacular lenses with Purple Stars.

Read on for the particulars.

SquidQuest Instructions

It's Party Time!

To complete the Silly Celebrations SquidQuest for January you'll need to choose an oddball holiday to celebrate that occurs in January.
  • 1Build a lens about an oddball, weird, wacky or unique holiday that occurs in January.

Tell us the history of the holiday and be sure to include fun ways to celebrate it such as foods, beverages, decorations, games, costumes or anything else we'd need to make celebrating the occasion more fun. Make your new lens spectacular and even more fun by including polls, quizzes, videos, photos, and anything else you can find.
  • 2Submit your NEW January silly celebration lens before midnight (EST) on January 31, 2012 using the Quest Tab on your dashboard to "Complete the Quest".

In response to the Quest for unusual holidays in January, I did a lens for National Soup Month. It contains two of our old family recipes for soup. (If I get a chance, I will add one of my own -- have to cook and test it first.

Today is the day when the Kitchen God goes to Heaven on his horse (no reindeer) to report on where the family has been "naughty or nice." There are a lot of similarities between the Kitchen God and Santa - I just wanted you all to know - you can read more at http://www.squidoo.com/chinese-kitchen-god , and if you want to learn more about Chinese New Year, you can go to my lens at http://www.squidoo.com/chinese-new-year-dragon
New Year's Eve is Sunday night. If you don't celebrate at home, you could always go to a Chinese restaurant! They will surely have great food that night.

New Years Day is Public Domain Day! when copyrights expire on a new crop of creative works by authors and artists. But when does the party really get started in the United States?
