One of the Seattle Four.

Pearl Jam is a Grammy Award-winning American Grunge band, formed in Seattle, Washington, and considered one of the most influential bands of the 1990s. Founded in 1990, Pearl Jam was one of the "Big Four" bands of the grunge movement, alongside Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. As of December 2006, Pearl Jam has sold over 31 million records in the U.S. alone. Pearl Jam is one of the few currently active bands from the alternative rock breakthrough of the early 1990s.

In a 2005 USA Today readers poll, Pearl Jam was voted the greatest American rock band of all time. In April 2006, Pearl Jam was awarded an Esky for best live act in Esquire's Esky Music Awards. The blurb called Pearl Jam "the rare superstars who still play as though each show could be their last." (Wikipedia, 2007)

Pearl Jam's newest album, Backspacer, was released in 2009 and reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200, with "The Fixer" reaching #2 in U.S. rock singles.

Official Bootlegs

Giving the Fans What They Want

Pearl Jam reportedly allowed fans to record live shows. Seeing a market for the official version of these bootlegged recordings, Pearl Jam offered fans recordings of concerts that they attended.

The band offered fans "official bootleg" CD's with shows for the years 2000-2001, 2003, 2005-2006, and 2008-2009. 3.5 million of these bootlegs CD's have been sold since being offered in 2000.

In 2009, Pearl Jam announced it would support official bootlegs for mobile devices starting with the Blackberry Tour.
