The SquidU Leadership Council
Ranked #1,688 in Squidoo Community, #169,377 overall
Your Elected SquidU Forum Moderators
Prior to June 6th, the forums were moderated by members of the Squidoo staff. But no more. Instead, they decided to hand over management and oversight of the busy forums to the lensmasters, specifically a group of lensmasters elected by their peers. Squidoo staff will post their own news and take comments on the Squidoo HQ blog. According to Megan Casey, Squidoo Editor-in-Chief, staff will no longer be following forum threads.
And now to introduce the SquidU Leadership Council, who'll be working for all of us to keep SquidU that friendly, supportive place it's supposed to be, keep the spammers at bay, and organize things to help us get the most benefit out of our forums....

Michelle did a great job during her time as moderator but must have gotten too busy with school, blogging and lensmaking to keep her volunteer position. I'm not sure when she resigned, but we thank her for her help keeping the forums running smoothly.More About Each of Our Current SquidU Moderators

Flynn_the_Cat
Flynn from New Zealand
Creative and funny Flynn_the_Cat, who has more than 200 lenses to date, describes her (or him?) self as "a Marine Biology post-graduate student, digital artist, traditional artist and photographer, obsessive reader, librarian and internet addict." Flynn helps keep the forums under control with his (or her?) own brand of humor, which many of us have come to enjoy and expect, and she (or he?) also has a lot of experience and wisdom to share.Learn more about Flynn_the_(somewhat mysterious)Cat on "this lensmaster's" (to avoid another pronoun) profile page.

Now from Ohio, USA (originally from the UK)
A lensmaster since December, 2008, Waxing-Lyrical says his first love is music, and that's reflected in many of his more than 100 lenses and his blog, Adventures in Pop Culture. Glenn from the UK
I don't know much about Glen, other than what I can glean from some photos on Facebook (looks like he lives in farm country, has some dogs, goats, sheep and cows ... or has some as neighbors, anyway ... and a shiny blue motorcycle) and his eclectic collection of Squidoo lenses on topics ranging from how to shoot a short film in 24 hours to Aristotelian Philosophy. He's also got some very helpful how-to-do (things on) Squidoo tutorials, like his Advanced HTML for Squidoo, which I personally have referred to dozens of times as I've created lenses.Check out Glen's N376 profile to browse through the rest.

Stazjia
Carol from the UK
Stazjia has been a member of Squidoo longer than most, having joined in September, 2006. And she was one of the first lensmasters I became acquainted with when I joined more than two years later. I was lucky that her high-quality lenses were some of the first I saw.Check out Stazjia's more than 150 excellent lenses by visiting her profile page. You can also read her writings on her blog, Stazjia's Potpourri.

What Do You Think About The Change in Forum Moderation?
Thank you for sharing your opinion.
Do you prefer a forum run by a group of lensmasters or one moderated by Squidoo staff?

I think a Squidoo staff moderator is the way to go.
lensesbyjames says:
The staff because they will have the best point of view
CCGAL says:
Squidoo Staff. It's way too much to expect of a volunteer crew to moderate something that's "official" in any respect. To rely on volunteers because of short staffing makes it appear to outsiders that Squidoo isn't doing well financially. My opinion - your mileage may vary.
OhMe says:
This seems to be working out great and I plan to get more involved. I just hope it isn't requiring too much time of these wonderful volunteers
I'd rather the forum be moderated by Squidoo lensmasters.

- I love the new Squidu forum moderators. They are quick to clean up any spam that hits the site, always there with a quirky sense of humor, and available at the drop of a pins notice to any comments. The Squid forums have turned into a right nice place to visit.

- Since Squidoo HQ no longer monitors SquidU threads, I pretty much don't see any point in this forum anymore ~ plus the fact that one of the elected moderators is one of the worst violators of Squidoo's Terms of Service...makes me not trust SquidU ~ Also the fact that Squidoo HQ has basically severed all ties with SquidU, pretty much makes the forum irrelevant to Squidoo ~ So really what's the point?

- If Squidoo was a not for profit organization, a leadership council would make perfect sense. However, Squidoo is a for-profit business, albeit a noble one given the charity aspect, and as such is relying an awful lot on volunteers to work for free. That bothers me. I do, however, wish all the council the very best and I hope there's some quid pro quo for them.
