Stopped For Driving Under The Influence? Get Cheap DUI Insurance
Its night time and the lighting situation is pretty dismal. As a matter of fact it is dark - very dark. Behind your own vehicle is the cruiser, and by this time its spotlight has been switched on and focused on where you now stand. One of the officers remains with the cruiser to check out the registration of your vehicle, and any "wants or warrants" which may exist for your person, for past traffic violations. You can hear the cackling of the radio receiver alerting the officers in the field to other activities requiring investigation, and you are particularly distracted, concerned and startled by the patrol cruiser's rooftop flashing red lights. It all appears to you as a horror filled nightmare. Before you stands the second half of the officer team, with flashlight in hand, directing its beam so that your face is illuminated.
You might have been witty, charming, macho and extroverted at the location from where you departed, but in this instance, no matter who and what you are in social or business life, you have now become obsequious, obedient and humble. You try to remain calm and unruffled, with an air of humility and re-signed cooperation.
The officer is empowered and charged with the duty to expose and capture, at least temporarily those drivers who are impaired and under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The performance of this duty bears the scrutiny and periodic observation by superiors. Examinations of an officer's field activity not only determine effectiveness and devotion to duty, but also play a significant role in job advancement and increased income.
If you are noticeably intoxicated, the grading of a field test is made that much easier. However, if you are a social drinker who had a minimal amount, the decisions of the officer involve a more intricate approach. Your demeanor, personality and performance are observed closely, and you may pass with high marks, the reward for which is freedom to drive away. Or you may fail, at which point you will be placed under arrest.
If, for any one of the multitude of hypothetical reasons the decision is made to arrest you even though you believe that your performance of the field sobriety tests was satisfactory, the arrest report will show that the action was justified. There is no such thing as an arrest report which does not support and justify an arrest in the field for Driving Under the Influence.

You will receive polite instructions to place both feet together and allow your head to tilt backward. Standing in this position you will be told to lift both arms in an outstretched and rigid fashion-and assume this posture until told to relax.
Try this test alone, when you haven't had anything to drink at all, and you will find yourself swaying slightly from side to side, or front to back. All people sway in this position.
Some more than others and some less, depending on height, weight, equilibrium and general health. Testimony by officers under cross examination in court trials reveal that everyone tested will sway to some degree, no matter what the intoxication level is.
FINGER TO NOSE
This is a test of accuracy and coordination. You must follow these instructions: take the index finger of your right hand, touch the tip of your nose. You must do this from the position of an outstretched arm, bringing only the fore¬arm around to make contact. Having done this, now stretch out the left arm, bringing the forearm about to make contact between the left index finger and the tip of the nose. The procedure is then repeated: right hand, then left again.
If your are a nervous person or agitated because of this bizarre experience, this test is difficult even with a low blood alcohol level. Shivering hands and shaking limb may have as much to do with a satisfactory performance as how much you've had to drink.
A sliding finger is the criteria of performance. If a finger successfully reaches a nose tip and slides, woe be to the owner of that finger. Or the finger may at first reach the middle of the nose, and slide down to the tip. That's even worse. Failure to keep your eyes closed as directed adds to greater suspicion of impairment.
ALPHABET RECITATION
You will be asked to recite the alphabet from A-Z. That seems simple enough, and it will be unless you are impaired. How much of the alphabet you remember will depend on the degree of your impairment, but let me caution you. Under the grotesque circumstances, even a mild intake of alcohol, combined with your anxieties of the moment, may cause a temporary lapse of memory.
HEEL TO TOE
Perhaps the most difficult of all the Field Sobriety Tests is the placing of the heel of your right foot to the toe of your left foot; and then the heel of your left foot to the toe of your right foot. Your arms must be rigidly out-stretched, parallel to the ground, or at your side, depending on the officer's choice at the time.
Your head and eyes must be faced for-ward. You cannot look down when adjusting your heels to your toes. And any distractions such as auto horns and traffic noises, spotlight red flashers, and the pounding of your own heart, may not be used as an excuse to follow these instructions incorrectly.
Take six steps forward, turn around and take six steps back to the point of origin. Keep your arms up please, do not look down. No space between heel and toe.
Drinking and Driving Can Tear Your Life Apart
License Revocations
The DUI criminal charge is prosecuted and adjudicated in the courts. This is in addition to the statutory summary suspension, which is an administrative process. If a person is convicted of DUI, the amount of time that privileges were lost due to a summary suspension is credited to the minimum drivers license revocation period.Full driving privileges are lost for a minimum of three years if a driver receives a second conviction for DUI, leaving the scene of a personal injury or fatal crash, reckless homicide or any combination of these offenses in a 20-year period.
If a driver receives a third or subsequent conviction of these offenses, full driving privileges will be lost for a mini-mum of six years.
If a driver is convicted of DUI in another state, Illinois driving privileges will be revoked. If an Illinois driver refuses to submit to chemical testing in another state, Illinois driving privileges will be suspended.
Driving privileges will be reinstated at the end of the statutory summary suspension period unless the court instructs the Secretary of State otherwise. Before driving privileges can be reinstated:
Other suspensions or revocations on the driving record must be cleared.
A $60 reinstatement fee must be paid to the court. Of this fee, $30 goes to the Department of Alcoholism and Sub-stance Abuse to help defray the cost of professional alcohol and drag evaluations for qualified indigent offenders.
A reinstatement becomes valid when it is entered on the driver's record in the Secretary of State's office. To legally drive, the driver must receive a letter from the Secretary of State's office acknowledging reinstatement.
Driving Under The Influence - DUI Insurance
When you're drinking and driving, you just can't win!
The driver's roulette wheel doesn't stop only for more serious possibilities.
There are all those countless moving violations, known as "infractions" which could very well mushroom into a misdemeanor violation of D.U.I., after being stopped, by a patrol car. When you're drinking and driving, you just can't win! You may be driving along very adeptly, with an alcohol blood level of only .02% or .03%-much below the guideline of .10%, and some other driver passes a red light and side swipes your car-or a driver might be tail-gating you, and rear end your automobile. You might collide in a dozen ways which may not be your fault, but once you are confronted by an officer on the scene, and you are observed to have a breath aroma of alcohol-you are a "loser".
A jay walking pedestrian, a home owner's pet darting out of left field may not be your fault, but the supposition of guilt will be upon you. A faulty master cylinder causing your brakes to malfunction, sending your vehicle careening into a crowd, may not be your fault, but you might be tried for felony manslaughter if the accident caused a death, and you were under the influence or even smelled of alcohol.
You may not be convicted if you can prove your innocence, and that means attorneys and that means fees and time away from work. And, if you don't have the financial capabilities a public defender might suggest that you accept a "plea bargain" offer of a lesser offense contingent upon your plea of guilty. It is no secret that many a plea bargain has been accepted by a defendant because of an inability to afford extensive legal work performed by highly skilled lawyers.
Let's have a look at the infractions which may give probable cause for a cruising patrol unit to activate a siren and flashing red lights, causing your heart to pound with fear, apprehension and anxiety. And I'll tell you just how it plays-step by step. Search for DUI insurance in your state - compare lowest quotes online.
