One of the most incredible island destinations is Sri Lanka, which is situated at the southern most tip of India.

It will not fail to amaze you with its beautiful beach vistas and its mouth watering cuisine, which is a melting pot of the various styles of Indian cuisine. Cheap road side shopping for those willing to shop till they drop and cultural excursions with lovely forts and museums, and Georgian architecture at places forms the cultural heritage of this place. Young or old, man or woman, Sri Lanka is one country which has something for every one. At Sri Lanka, all inclusive holidays are hardly the exception but the norm.

The open air bazaars by the road-side and fancy air-conditioned boutiques, both carry a large variety of traditional Lankan souvenirs and crafts, like the native batik prints and special teas, ceramic knick-knacks and the famous silver jewelery that Sri Lanka is so famous for. All of these items also make for splendid presents for loved ones back home.

For both travel and shutter bugs, Sri Lanka has sights and vistas, the likes of which you have never seen before. The Hunas waterfalls are the most spectacular in the country, and at Kandy you can see the famed "Temple of the Tooth" where a tooth of the Buddha resides. If you are on the hunt for some local entertainment, then the Perahera pageant during July - August with performances by acrobats, elephants and performers, will impress you with skill, dexterity and colors.

If you are a food-lover, then do try experimenting with Sri Lankan foods as their style of cooking is somewhat different and not readily available outside the island nation. They are famous for a particular style of curry, where the gravy is made from a mixture of cinnamon and coconut. This island nation with amazing food, verdant greens and people who go out of the way to help you, make this a popular destination for many couples to get married here.

The best time for visiting Sri Lanka is when there are no rains, so that you can avoid being stuck inside. The warm season is from June to September and the cool season to go is from October to April. However, rains are sudden so do not forget to pack an umbrella.

Sri Lanka has a lot of opportunities which make it an ideal holiday destination. And these days they have thrown open their days to welcome tourists into their island nation in order to showcase their culture, natural beauty and to highlight the old saying that good things come in small packages as Sri Lanka is one of the smaller countries in South East Asia.

Sri Lankan architecture and archaeological heritage have influences spanning from Greek antiquity right up to a British colonial heritage. With Sri Lanka being an island trading nation, their culture bears traces of cultural inputs from all over the world over many ages. Their culture, reflected in their social and religious practices, art, costumes, crafts, festivals and pageants never fail to entrance the visitor with their rich cultural diversity

These cultural riches are supplemented by a beautiful country side, where blue seas, spectacular beaches, lush green hills, and imposing waterfalls, and a multitude of wildlife, flowers, tea estates, coconut groves, fruits and spice gardens enrich the island's natural beauty. The sandy white beaches are pure and pristine still in this day and age. The central hilly region is scattered with imposing waterfalls and misty peaks. This is the very region where the world famous "Pure Ceylon Tea" is grown. These mountains are also home to the gem mines which throw up rubies and sapphires. The roads to the mountains are alive with life as cars, bikes, carts, elephants and bullocks make their way into the mountains. There are wayside craft markets and factories which add a sense of color to the dusty roadsides and if you are lucky you might get to see a fisherman on stilts too. Sri Lanka truly has something for every one. A Sri Lanka all inclusive holiday will be the holiday of a lifetime that you will never forget.
