Planning on going for a Sri Lanka package holiday?

When you are planning for your vacation, you will notice that there are two ways of going about it. You can make individual and separate bookings for your travel and accommodation. Usually this takes a lot of time and effort to plan, find out information about and coordinate.

Alternatively, you can go for a package holiday where you get accommodation as a package deal along with your flight tickets, and often car rental too. Booking separately allows you to negotiate lower costs for each component; however package deals often work out to be quite cheap as they are usually negotiated for bulk numbers and some of the bulk savings are usually passed onto you. Packaged holidays also have a sense of security as you can go without having any worries about availability or impending costs. You also travel with people who have similar interests, so you can find new friends too. Also, as it is a company arranged trip, there is usually a company representative who will take care of your needs or difficulties.

However, if you are going for Sri Lankan package holiday be prepared for the following:

Departure times for flights can be late at night. If you are prepared for this, then you can arrange appropriately. You should also get a discount for this. If you don't ask for one,you might be surprised at how easily they comply.

  • Your allocated seating may be far away from the windows and this might cause problems if you are traveling with children. So do ensure that you carry reading material as often the in-flight film doesn't appeal to children.

  • If there are a lot of people in your group, then all of you may not be allocated seating together.

  • You may not be allocated a hotel room with a good view, and it maybe in the middle of the city. So do consider if you can handle the noise and whether you want a room that doesn't provide you with a beautiful view. You may need to pay more for a room with a view.

  • Travel packages work out best for groups and they are always not quite flexible for individual requirements. Flexibility usually costs a lot more.

  • Cancellations attract a heavy penalty. Do ask before you book as to how much will be deducted before refunds.

  • Extras and add-on packages can be priced very high, in order to make up for the lower profit margins on popular plans.

  • You are usually stuck with the people you have started out with. If you find them irksome, then you will be in a soup. But usually there are a lot of nice people as well, so hopefully it will all balance out.

  • You may also have to undergo a stop-over or an indirect route as prices on these flights are cheaper than those on direct flights.

There is nothing called a perfect holiday, but if you keep an open mind there is no reason as to why you cannot have a memorable fun holiday even on a package holiday to sri lanka.
