SSAT Test - There Is More Than One !

The SSAT is a tool used to measure the ability of students. The test has two levels one for grades 5 -7 and another for 8-11. These tests will indicate to testers the child's natural aptitude and also allows them to assess their strengths and weaknesses in areas of the basic skills of the curriculum. The test came into being in the1950's because every region had their own program of study and they wanted a way to make sure that although the basic programming were different that the students would all be learning what was needed to take the SAT, which is the test that determines if a child is ready for post secondary education and on what level.

Meet The Standards

The SSAT practice tests are given to see if the student has achieved a particular academic level that is standard for their grade level. This test shows aptitude so no matter a child's GPA they can do well on this test. It is often here that children are found that are falling between the cracks. Their GPA is low but there aptitude is high. These tests are used as a part of an admissions procedure for private and independent schools too.

Know What You Can Do!

The SSAT test is also a great tool for predicting how well a student may actually do on the SAT's. the test in that the students in grades 7-10 will let the student and school faculty know what areas the student needs to work harder in to get to where they need to be to not only graduate but also to get into a good college. Knowing the students strength and weaknesses can help to get them prepared for the all important next step.

Two types of SSAT tests available!

There are actually two types of SSAT test, which is given yearly. The national test is given in the US and Canada on 8 different Saturdays during a given calendar year. The national test can be taken as many times as the student wants to take it. This test requires that you register by mail or fax and each testing time has a registration deadline. Last minute registrations will incur an additional fee.

Then there is the SSAT "Flex Test", which is given often but a student is only allowed to take it once in a given calendar year. These test are administered by educational consultants or school administrations. The flex test is also done by region but a student still may only take it once.
