From the lens Visit St Andrews in Fife, Scotland.

Do you think St Andrews is somewhere you'd like to visit?

Absolutely. Although I am not a golfer, i always liked the green there when it was on television during the tournament. Squid Angel blessed!

I forgot to say I went to St Andrews in 1970 (brother had to watch the Open!) and was stood on the eighteenth green as Doug Sanders failed to sink the putt on the Saturday - and hence failed to win the Open for that Year! see http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/golf/theopen/5778892/The-Open-greatest-moments-so-close-for-Doug-St-Andrews-1970.html

Thanks so much! Your second comment about the Open vanished when I clicked approve but I'm sure it will reappear. They rarely disappear for good.

We did go to St. Andrews while we were in Scotland. I wish I had known more about it before we got there. There was so much history to try to absorb in one short afternoon. It was quite beautiful and I loved the beach. I hope to go back someday when I am more in charge of what we do with our days (we went with a group and had to stick to a preset itinerary) Now that I read this article I remember some of what we heard that day, but I never would have recalled without the reminders.

Oh it would be lovely if you had a chance to return. Best thing about St Andrews is it is so compact, so a golf lover in the family can go one way, the history lover another, and some nice little shops and restaurants for when you get back together. :)

I so want to go there!! I have always loved the ancient Celtic culture, perhaps because it is part of my heritage. I dream of the days that I might visit and see them for myself. I am not a golfer, but the cathedrals and ancient ruins have had my interest for years. Well done. I thoroughly enjoyed my visited here.

Thank you too for leaving another SquidAngel blessing on my Big Island of Hawaii-South Kona Coast lens! You aremost kind.

    Mahalo,
    KonaGirl

You're welcome! If you love history, then you would enjoy St Andrews, combined perhaps with another historic Fife town such as Falkland. Or of course with Edinburgh!

It's actually West Sands which is the larger, Chariots of Fire beach.

East Sands is the one with the pier which the caravan park looks over.

Oh yes, I was born in St Andrews! Lived there till the ripe old age of four, so my memories from that time are a wee bit hazy. But I've been back to visit and remember well walking along that pier, the beach, the golf course, and the ruined cathedral. Great pictures - I'm sure it still looks exactly like that!

I'd like to go there although I am not into golf, but I like the scenery.

My brother loves to play golf, and St. Andrews would be his ULTIMATE choice for a visit! I gave him a St. Andrews Golf Sweatshirt to help him remember his dream of going some day.

Love the posters you selected - it's a lovely looking place! I've never been to Scotland, isn't that a terrible admission?? Nice lens.
