Launching A New Ad Campaign

Guy standing in a wheat fieldToyota has launched a new "Beyond Cars" advertising campaign. It is designed to highlight Toyota's commitment to being environmentally aware, the economy, and local communities. The campaign will include print and online ads, in addition to a new television commercial. All are actions to promote traffic to your local Toyota dealer.

"A founding principle of Toyota is 'To contribute to society through the manufacturing of automobiles'," said Steve Sturm, group vice president of Toyota Motor North America. "This campaign draws upon that core belief and gives concrete examples of how we're putting this into action today and in the future."

The online banner ads and versions of the commercial will link to the campaign site, www.toyota.com/beyondcars, which showcases Toyota's vision of "Beyond Cars." The television commercial emphasizes Toyota having plants across America, creating nearly 200,000 jobs, and seeing beyond cars when it comes to the economy.

Toyota established its operations in 1957 in North America. It currently operates 14 manufacturing plants. In 2008, more than, 1,800 Toyota, Lexus, and Scion dealerships in North America, more than 2.5 million vehicles were sold. Toyota is also responsible for directly employing nearly 41,000 people in North America and its investment here is valued at more than $23 billion, this includes: sales and manufacturing operations, financial services and design, and research and development. Toyota's annual purchasing totals nearly $25 billion for parts, materials, goods, and services from North American suppliers.

When visiting a Toyota dealer, such as Jim Lynch's Spirit Toyota Scion, the American value system and quality vehicle product is apparent. Toyota is a trusted name in America. They deliver quality vehicles time and time again. Each Toyota dealer is full of top notch, quality, trained employees, each one eager to meet the demands of the consumer. They have proven to be a staple in the car industry and continue to grow in performance and quality over time.

Toyota, History of The Company

Facts and History

Question MarkToyota Motor Corporation is the world's largest auto manufacturer in terms of sales. The company employs over 320,000 people worldwide. Presently Toyota has assembly plants in Canada, the United States, Indonesia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and France.
The company was started in 1937, by Kiichiro Toyoda. This came shortly after the company created the Type A engine in 1934. The Type A engine itself, ultimately led to the production of Toyota's first passenger vehicle, the Toyota AA, in 1936.
The word Toyoda is literally translated to the phrase "fertile rice patties". By changing the company name to Toyota, they were attempting to separate it from a term that might bring about thoughts farming or of that which was old-fashioned. During World War II, the company was contracted to build trucks for the Japanese military. Luckily for them the war was over when it was. The allies had targeted the Toyota manufacturing facilities for destruction, but never got the opportunity to carry out those plans.
From 1947 until the mid-1960s, cars offered by Toyota dealers were smaller vehicles sold using the brand name "Toyopet". The brand name "Toyopet" was never introduced in the United States when the firm began competing in the American motor vehicle market around 1957.
Toyota also owns and maintains a position of majority shareholder in Daihatsu, who is known for making of ultra-small cars, as well as Hino motors, which is the leading producer of medium and heavy duty diesel trucks in Japan. Of course, they also own and operate the Lexus and Scion brands.
In 1982 Toyota motor sales merged together with the Toyota motor company to form the Toyota motor corporation. Two years after that, Toyota entered into a joint venture with General Motors, called NUMMI, the New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. They reopened an old GM manufacturing plant and began to produce vehicle in Fremont, California.
Toyota ranked 8th in the Forbes magazine 2000 list of the world's leading companies in 2005.

Toyota Year-End Sales

December 31All Saint Louis Toyota dealers are finally celebrating. The economy finally seems to be on the mend and sales are starting to reflect that change. In the report of sales during the month of December 2009 there showed an increase of 22.9 percent over the same time last year. Despite the fact that there were 28 selling days in December 2009 and only 26 during December of 2008 there was a whopping 32.3 percent increase month over month. This comes as great relief to Toyota. It is a true indication of economic turnaround.
A report of sales for the entire 2009 year, Toyota Motor Sales reported sales of 1,770,149 vehicles. This, in fact, was decrease of 20.2 percent over the same period of time during the 2008 year.
"Emerging from the rollercoaster of 2009, the industry has gained positive momentum for a gradual recovery," said Don Esmond, senior vice president of automotive operations, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. "Despite a tough market, TMS performed solidly, reaching its goal to grow market share. With Toyota continuing as the best-selling overall brand and Lexus as the best-selling luxury brand in America, we're looking forward to a bright 2010."
The Toyota Camry and the Camry Hybrid led the pack when it came to passenger car sales. Combined, they accounted for a total of 356,824 annual unit sales. The total reported for passenger cars states that December sales of 98,122 units, was an increase of 34.6 percent over the same month last year.
As for the Toyota brand trucks, for the same month last year there was an increase of sales by 11.7 percent, but also showed a decrease of 25.7 percent for the entire year sales. The trucks that led the pack in sales were the Rav4, up 8.8 percent, the Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, the full size Tundra, the mid-size Tacoma, and finally the Sienna.
It may be a slow start, but it is a great sign of economic mend for all Toyota dealers. It has proven to be a much needed boost for the brand.

Toyota is Still All About Safety and Cutomer Service

Toyota Addresses Global Recall

Car PedalsToyota is ramping up for the mad rush to replace gas pedals, as concerned Americans bring their cars to the shop as part of a global recall of 4.5 million vehicles after some accelerators became stuck in a wide range of models.

Many Saint Louis Toyota dealerships are taking action and notifying their customers regarding the plan to fix the recalled Toyota parts, and to use the money that the company set aside to provide things like a free oil change and/or car wash as a way to apologize to loyal Toyota owners for the inconvenience caused by defects they needed to have fixed. Some companies offer extended hours for their service centers, and are even working seven days a week, including holidays, until all affected cars have been repaired.

Jim Lentz, president and CEO of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., addressed concerns in newspaper ads taken out following the recall announcement. Lentz advised drivers that if they aren't experiencing any problems with their gas pedal, "we are confident that your vehicle is safe to drive. If your accelerator pedal becomes harder to depress than normal or slower to return, please contact your dealer without delay." Stuck gas pedals are a rare problem, and it often doesn't happen suddenly. If the pedal does become stuck, the car can be controlled with a firm and steady push on the brakes.

Meanwhile, the replacement parts have arrived, and technicians have been willing and able to work over- time and do what it takes to get the job done as swiftly as possible and take care of Toyota customers in the manner that Toyota car owners are accustomed to.

Some Toyota dealerships have even gone as far as to offer a complimentary lease car up to two months during the inconvenience of dealing with the inconvenience of the recall.

If you have a Toyota model that is included in the recall, see your local Toyota Dealer, Spirit Toyota service center today to have one of our certified mechanics check it out because at Spirit Toyota, safety has always been our first priority.
