St Pancras Station London

Ranked #5,688 in Travel & Places, #161,398 overall

St Pancras the Most Glorious London Station

St Pancras Station is often termed the ''cathedral of the railways', and includes two of the most celebrated structures built in Britain in the Victorian era. The main train shed, completed in 1868 by the engineer William Henry Barlow was the largest single-span structure built up to that time. The frontage of the station is formed by St Pancras Chambers, formerly the Midland Grand Hotel (1868-1877), an impressive example of Victorian Gothic architecture. St Pancras Station now called St Pancras International Station also staggers visitors when they its Disney like structure has now become London's most modern station serving as the Eurostar Terminal.

St Pancras is sandwiched between Euston and Kings Cross Mainline Terminus's and also is a junction for Circle , Hammersmith , Metropolitan , Northern , Piccadilly , Victoria Underground Lines and the Eurostar a transport buff's paradise. What with the Eurostar, the rebuilding and the busy roads outside the area is a hive of activity requiring concentration to negotiate.

Kings Cross was a very run down area but is being massively redeveloped however some of its former shabbiness can still be seen

Kings Cross though overshadowed by St Pancras does have a certain charm.
